The Wisconsin State Genealogical Society issues Pioneer Ancestor Certificates to persons who can establish they are direct descendants of someone who settled in Wisconsin prior to 1851, and Century Ancestor Certificates to persons who can establish that their direct ancestor settled in Wisconsin over 100 years ago. Evidence submitted by persons applying for these certificates may be helpful to some persons researching Wisconsin ancestors. For details on the program please check the WSGS Web site at http://www.wsgs.org. FYI, the reply to the original posting stating that the State Historical Society conducts such a Pioneer Program was incorrect, they do not. Jack Brissee Pres., Wis State Genealogical Soc
