    3. I understand the term "Fair use" and it makes sense. The problem is that many genealogists put their work "out there" for the purpose of assisting others with their research. I can understand how someone would not want to spend 20 years putting together a comprehensive GEDCOM only to have someone else download it, print it and SELL it. But if there is no mechanism in place to provide monetary compensation to that author and/or none is expected, the law says that copyright is still being violated. I think our laws have simply not caught up with technology. Lynne Bliss Colorado
