Hi List, Does anyone on this list have family in Honey Creek Cemetery and/or St. Josephs Cemetery? One is in Oak Creek and the other is in West Allis/Milwaukee Wisconsin. I took pictures of these 2 cemeteries about 2 years ago and have been working on listing all the names and write them to disk. Some of the stones are hard to read and I have not had a chance to go back and relook at the stones I could not read. For the most part I have a nice list of names from both cemeteries. These cemeteries are old cemeteries in Wisconsin. My intention was to take pictures of all the old small cemeteries in the Wisconsin area then post them to the list but someone stole my daughters digital camera that I used and I have not been able to get another. It used floppy disks so it was great for this mission. Without the camera I have not had the chance to do the rest so I decided to post it now instead of when I am finished. I live in Menominee, Michigan now and as soon as I get a chance (camera) there are some old cemeteries here that I will work on here. Cheryl
Lynn Bliss would you look up some farmers for me. Phelps, Auchampaugh, Eckerson, Hunt would appreciate the lookup. ----- Original Message ----- From: <GenWisconsin-D-request@rootsweb.com> To: <GenWisconsin-D@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, July 26, 2004 4:14 PM Subject: GenWisconsin-D Digest V04 #135
Here they are: Phelps, Chandler B. (Elizabeth Crooks) Ch: Charles, Florence, *Isaac, *Etta, *Lottie; Whitewater R4 LaGrange twp, Sec 20, Owns 120 acres. Lived in county since 1853. Phelps, David (Mary Aucompaugh). Ch: Edward, *Sherman, *Carrie; Delavan Rt 3 Walworth twp Sec 5, Owns 83-3/4 acres. In county since 1869. Has Delavan telephone exchange. Phelps, Harry O. Ch: Oliver; Lyons, Rt 1, Spring Prairie twp, Sec 33, Owns 237 acres. In county since 1882. Has Burlington telephone exchange. Phelps, Linn H. (Myrtle Thayer). Ch: Marjorie, Doris, Gladys, Phyllis, Wilma; "Lynwood Stock Farm" Whitewater R5, LaGrange twp, sec 28, owns 160 acres. In county since 1883. Has LaGrange telephone exchange. (*starred children are not living at home) No Auchampaugh (aside from wife above) No Eckerson There is also an index of who owns what kind of car! Chandler owns a Buick, David, owns a Reo, Henry owns a Buick and an Overland, and Linn owns a Ford. They weren't listed in the listing for "Tractor Owners" but two of them were for "Silo Owners": Harry has a brick silo and Linn has a concrete silo. Interesting stuff! What a time to be living when the kind of car you owned was important enough to document in a book! Lynne cottonpatch@comcast.net wrote: > Lynn Bliss would you look up some farmers for me. I was lucky enough to get a 1919 Prairie Farmer's Directory of Farmers in Walworth County, Wisconsin. If anyone would like me to look up a name, let me know. The entries give the head of the household, wife's maiden name, name of children, name of farm, post office, township, how many acres they own and how long they have lived in the county. Great genealogy stuff. Just my luck, my family isn't listed! Lynne -- Lynne (Outhouse) Bliss Searching Outhouse, Henika, Gunnison, Wenham, Burnham, Torrey, Stelter, Ferge/Ferch
ebay number http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=48&item=6109956544&rd=1 This is a lot of 3 vintage photographs. The first two are the same, just different mats around them. The two identical photos are 8 x 10 photos. It appears to be either a family or an organization. They came in a photo envelope and were addressed to Sally Rohr in Wausau, WI. The third photo is a 4x6. It is a wedding photo and comes in a tri-fold paper frame. The center part that goes over the photo needs to be re-glued. There is minor surface wear on them. Please see the photos.
I hope you find the family for that bible as I know it would be a great treasure for some one Loretta

Marjorie, The La Crosse Public Library has the La Crosse County Cemeteries online. Here's their link. La Crosse Public Library Michelle
Hi, Are the cemeteries for Lacrosse Co. on line? I am looking for the burial records of the COTTAM and ALTIMAS families who went to Burnstown sometime after 1870. Would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks, Marjorie.
Iris, I tried to reply to your note but the message bounced. Could you write again off list and I would reply to that address? If you have any idea why the mail program didn't deal with it, please suggest what to do. Sorry to trouble the mailing list, Ashley

I think that is a urban legend. I found reference to this in the roots web archives from 1998 word for word. http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/read/ROLL-CALL/1998-09/0904870524 _________________________________________________________________ Discover the best of the best at MSN Luxury Living. http://lexus.msn.com/
I just wanted to let people know that I have been trying to retrieve my uncles military records and I was told that they were destroyed in the fire. I have been trying to do this the last couple of months. The year I'm trying to retrieve is 1918 and the last name James. So this may be a new development or it may just like the other person said and urban legend. Michelle
Isn't this just one of those "urban legends" that keep re-surfacing every so often? I could swear I read an e-mail a year or so ago on just this subject, and later found out it was NOT true at all. Of course, I could be wrong---I am getting old and decrepit, so it's possible. Just checking to see if anyone else remembers this from the past???? I am guessing about l800-1815. The census of 1800 and 1865, were too early and too late. You will need to check the Parish records. You might find some of the information in a Bygdebok, if there is one available for that area. Ron Bestrom
