The Diocese of Green Bay has graciously provided me with a listing of the Catholic Churches in Brown, Calumet and Outagamie Counties, along with the approximate START dates of each churches records of baptisms, marriages and deaths that are held in the ARCHIVES at Green Bay. I have listed them on my web site at; _http://www.1familytree.com_ (http://www.1familytree.com/) Follow the link on CHURCHES. Since civil records were not a requirement prior to 1907, sometime the church records are the only places where you might find a date for a birth, marriage or death. Jay
I'm the county coordinator for Ozaukee Co in Wisconsin with a website at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~wiozauke/ Most counties have a list of volunteers as part of their sites who will do lookups at the courthouse - this is something I do here. While you can't get a photocopy of the records, the volunteer will have access to the records and be able to handcopy the information and email them to you. Another site containing many volunteers is: http://www.raogk.org/ I know Milwaukee has strict rules - think you have to sign up way in advance of your visit and know the dates of the birth/marriage/deaths you are looking for, but here at least, there is an alphabetical index which makes searching much easier. Good luck, --- Linda Eckardt <woodenhearts@yahoo.com> wrote: > I have never been to the court house in Milwaukee > but I'm sure that each county court house has it's > own rules. The ARC libraries have the death records for Pre-1907 not Post-1907, which have to be obtained through Madison; and I'm not aware of a less expensive way to obtain them, but I wish I did. No, this site doesn't, I misread the post 1907 part, I'm sorry! I agree it can get costly. If you don't need a direct copy, I would check with Genealogy clubs in the area, and see if someone would copy information from the original.... ----- Original Message ----- From: IrisLillie@aol.com To: GenWisconsin-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Wednesday, August 25, 2004 9:39 AM Subject: Re: [GenWisc] Wisconsin death certificates 1907+ In a message dated 8/25/2004 9:03:32 AM Central Daylight Time, kellerfam@discover-net.net writes: This website lists all ARC libraries (Area Research Centers) in the Wisconsin University System. Have you tried inter-library loan through your local library? I haven't used it for these items, but it might be a possibility. ----- Original Message ----- From: KurtKathKels@aol.com To: GenWisconsin-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Wednesday, August 25, 2004 12:35 AM Subject: [GenWisc] Wisconsin death certificates 1907+ Hello, I was wondering whether there was any way to obtain post-1907 Wisconsin death certificates at a cheaper rate than the state rate. I have never been to the court house in Milwaukee but I'm sure that each county court house has it's own rules. The court houses I have visited in Wisconsin have been very helpful. I would imagine that Milwaukee being a large city would have to be stricter with their rules to maintain some order. Hopefully things will pick up in a couple weeks or so. > > From: Rosemarie547@webtv.net (Heart's Desire) > Date: 2004/08/18 Wed AM 09:00:49 CDT > To: GenWisconsin-L@rootsweb.com > Subject: [GenWisc] list > > Hello, > Anyone out there? > I'm not getting any activity from this list. > > > ==== GenWisconsin Mailing List ==== > Mailing list moderator: Brenda K. He died there in 1921 and was going by an alias 'Fred Necer' according the obituary I have for him. I also have a death certificate from Idaho. William Netzer is better known as uncle Bill to our oldest living Netzer. I don't have a date of birth for Bill Netzer (possibly your grandfather) because the birth certificates were hit and miss in the late 1800s. I actually have a photo of William (Bill) and Christina (Jonas?) Netzer. As well as some of other siblings and also of their mother, Susanna Netzer ORig ************* We happen to have two William Netzers with some big coincidences. Who knows, it's happened to me many times! want more? e-mail me.
