Iris, do you live in Wisconsin? Peshtigo was our deadliest Forest Fire in Wisconsin history. Another horrible fire, just over the Wisconsin border into MN., was the Hinckley Fire. My gr. gr. aunt & her husband just barely escaped the Hinckley Fire with their lives.

I believe the Peshtigo Fire was 1895 according to my memory off the top of my head. It was the exact same day as The Chicago Fire but, because of its distance from NEWS providers, it wasn't heard of, nationwide, until 3 days later. If you need help in Barron, Rusk or Sawyer counties, I may be able to help somehow. I also do research in Chippewa, St. Croix & Pierce counties., as well as Washington Co., MN.

I looking for a needle in a haystack. I am seeking information about Abraham Olson/Olsen Mjeld, who immigrated from Norway in 1882 and, according to family information, died in a logging accident in Wisconsin in 1885. I am particularly interested in learning where in Wisconsin he lived. Does anyone have any suggestions for finding him?
