Has anyone heard of the Rienzi Cemetery in Wisconsin? Most of my family was from Monroe County and surrounding areas but no such luck on this cemetary. Can any one help please? My ggg gradnfather was buried there (Martin HEANEY) Brynjulf Hulleberg
My great great grandfather Alonzo Bemis is also buried in Rienzi Cemetery near Fond du Lac Wisconsin. I have not been there, but hope to go to take photos if there is a headstone. I understand that it is a small cemetery. They certainly look like mostly Germans & probably all Lutheran. I know a Patricia Schleif from that area.
An abandoned cemetery or some discarded tombstones? This summer a couple who while hiking came upon a group of gravestones that looked as if they had been unattended for years. There were nine, maybe 10, gravestones just back from the banks of Squaw Lake in the Minocqua township. It is not known if there was a small community or church at that location at one time. The stones are close together causing some concern that they may have been moved from another location. The Minocqua Museum is determined to solve the mystery of the cemetery. Do you know anything about this cemetery? An article, "The 'mystery of the graves' - Minocqua Museum ladies begin search'. " appears in the second section of the Lakeland Times newspaper, page 6, October 1, 2004. A list of the names & dates on the tombstones can be seen at Oneida County WIGenWeb http://www.rootsweb.com/~wioneida/

Hello List, I'm looking for an early marriage (1854-1856?) Can anyone check this out for me? It's for WILLIAM RANDERSON & CATHERINE COFFEY. They lived in Freedom in 1860 and 1870 but they might have been married in St. John's Catholic church in Little Chute. William was born in England and Catherine was born in Ireland. William was born abt 1823-24 and Catherine was born abt. 1835. Thank you, Jean

I'm looking for desc. of Wm. Henry Harrison WELLS who died in Brodhead, Green Co., WI. He was married to Sarah Ann (Bailey).

I found these German sentences in email, that I rcvd from a person who I think was doing me a favor, by searching thru the Janesville City Libray, for info for me, on "SPLETTER". She sent me the following: Splitter, Theresa W.A. (Polzin), born 7 Jan 1872, died 14 Feb 1907 w/o William L. - Die blume gottes wie fruh brach dich des gartners hand, er braugh sie night, er pflanzte sie nur ie ein bess 'resland. Put this into an Online translator, with spotty results; "bloom, god, garderners hand & plants. Cannot find out what "bess 'resland" is. I think something is left out ? ? ? Splitter, Wilhelmina, w/o Johann, born 18 Mar 1835, died 19 Dec 1906 Die gerechten seelen sindin gottes hand in des friedens ew cem vaterland. This, I got as : "gods hand & father or homeland". Any different versions ? ? ? Thanks, bill .

I sent this message to the Wisconsin Genealogy list by mistake, I had meant to send it to the Illinois list. But maybe it was a good mistake. It might be possible that some of the KNAPP's in Wisconsin might be related to the KNAPP's in Illinois. The families that I've been researching in Wisconsin has been the GARDNER, TIEPNER/TEIPHEN, FISK & GOODELL/GOODALE/GOODALL. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Heart's Desire" <Rosemarie547@webtv.net> To: <GenWisconsin-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, October 09, 2004 9:30 PM Subject: Re: [GenWisc] Dr. William & Adeline KNAPP > KNAPP is such a common name here in northwestern Wisconsin. > KNAPP, STOUT & Co. was a lumbering company, along with WEYERHAEUSER > Lumber & ARPIN Lumber responsible for clearing off the huge white pine > forests here. > I live on Knapp St. in Chetek. KNAPP is such a common name here in northwestern Wisconsin. KNAPP, STOUT & Co. was a lumbering company, along with WEYERHAEUSER Lumber & ARPIN Lumber responsible for clearing off the huge white pine forests here. I live on Knapp St. in Chetek. There is a Knapp St. in Rice Lake. Knapp WI. is on Hwy. 12 west of Menomonie. Do you know any more about the KNAPPs?
