Dear Susan. You can write to Wisconsin State Genealogical Society(WSGS) for one of two certificates. Pioneer- Ancestor has to have been in Wisconsin prior to 1851. Century- Ancestor was in Wisconsin more than 100 years. Write to WSGS P.O. Box 5106 Madison, WI 53705-0106 Information is very detailed. I received the forms several months ago and haven't finished them yet. Hi All, Does anyone know the origin of the name of the town of Larrabee (west of Matteson and north of Bear Creek in Waupaca County), organized 02 April 1861? Cathy
Has anyone on the list ever heard of the Sparta Child Care Cemetary in Sparta, Monroe, Co? I've been trying to research my grandfather Bert Henry YOUNGBLOOD 12/23/1897-4/4/1960. Every record I have found has a different date of birth for this man. He always only lists "WI" as his place of birth. I just found a Ralph YOUNGBLOOD listed as buried in the above cemetary and I'm hoping he may be the brother of Bert. As is this the first YOUNGBLOOD I've found in WI, I'm crossing my fingers! Thank you. Barri

The Wisconsin State Genealogical Society issues Pioneer Ancestor Certificates to persons who can establish they are direct descendants of someone who settled in Wisconsin prior to 1851, and Century Ancestor Certificates to persons who can establish that their direct ancestor settled in Wisconsin over 100 years ago. Evidence submitted by persons applying for these certificates may be helpful to some persons researching Wisconsin ancestors. For details on the program please check the WSGS Web site at http://www.wsgs.org. FYI, the reply to the original posting stating that the State Historical Society conducts such a Pioneer Program was incorrect, they do not. Jack Brissee Pres., Wis State Genealogical Soc
