    2. I'm sure the Register of Deeds could tell where the cemetary is. There is no general phone for the Courthouse. Matt

    1. Re: [GenWisconsin] Where to in Antigo
    2. Hi Ed, Thanks so much for this helpful info. I appreciate it. I hope the funeral homes might have records as far back as 1885 & 1888. I just read in a recent publicaion from a genealogy society that I belong to, that one of the local funeral directors has donated all of their records to the local society. It included records from the previous owners as well. Isn't that wonderful. I have found funeral homes very helpful in providing information when I couldn't otherwise find records. <smile> Dee

    1. [GenWisconsin] Re: History of Northern Wisconsin
    2. Hi All, Sorry I didn't post this earlier, as I took a few days vacation. Thought I should let you know that all the biographies and many historical accounts from the two volumes of the History of Northern Wisconsin are very soon to be uploaded on the appropriate county pages of the GenExchange. (All of them, regardless of county, will appear on the main WIGenExchange web site.) Dodge County is being uploaded first. In some cases there are additional bios available for a particular county, and sometimes more extensive ones, in the individual county histories. Where omissions in the mentioned volumes exist, or where better biographies were found in individual county histories, they were transcribed rather than using the History of Northern Wisconsin as the source. All bios on the GenExchange are posted with fully verifiable sources. I have library cards for local libraries in many WI counties and, when available, access the original genealogical and historical materials rather than stuggling all the time with sometimes hard-to-read and time-comsuming microfilm. Doing the full census transcriptions is enough microfilm to satisfy me! Visiting the local libraries also allows me to take some nice day trips, and to meet and share with people knowledgeable about the genealogy and history of their area.
