Is anyone doing lookups in Germans to America? I am looking for Heinrich KELLERMANN who came with his brothers Ferdinand and Bernhard sometime between 1863 and 1867. Thanks for any help. D. Kellerman
Does anyone have access to a city directory or phone book for the city of Barron in Barron Co for the year 1907? I would like a list of undertakers if someone is willing and able to help me. Thanks in advance. Janet Enloe in Monarch, MT
Everyone, I own a copy of the 1924 -Hx. of Lincoln, Vilas and Oneida Counties. I will post a list of surnames included (hopefully tomorrow), also will do look-ups. I found this copy in my Grandparents attic. Robin

I don't know anything about this movie but it's on Cinemax tonight at 7:30 CDT. Is anyone familiar with it? It's described as follows: The 1890s misfortunes of the town of Black River Falls are re-enacted and recalled through archival materials. This "darkly comic" documentary ws inspired by book of the same title by Michael Lesy, who found a strange concentration of weird and tragic events in the town. Was Black River Falls really "in the throes of madness"? Lita I have gone to find myself. If I get back before I return, please ask me to wait! Hi all! I am sure the Higgins books are a great source of info but I do want to tell anyone that is doing research in The Townsend surname the book that they have on the Three Townsend brothers, John, Henry and Richard can be ordered from the Townsend society in Oyster Bay, New York and it is a hard cover beautifully decorated and only 17.50. I am not putting the books down believe me but we all know we have to cut corners when possible. Here is a link to the Oyster Bay society. Sure enough, when I contacted them, they were willing to provide a discount for 5 or more copies ordered at the same time. (I ordered five to distribute to the children of my husband and his brother.) So, if enough folks on the list are interested, you might see if you can get a discount by ordering together. FYI - leadtime is 5 to 6 weeks. Here's the web page link to all the other old books they are republishing about Wisconsin: http://www.higginsonbooks.com/vttowy.htm#wisconsin I don't know if the reprints have all the pictures/plates of the originals, and sometimes they'll be in smaller typeset -- maybe even a better one ::grin:: The books are sort of pricey, especially the large ones, but considering what you'd pay for a *real* original volume of any of those books, Higginson is a bargain. Even in non-pristine condition, original books like these sell for *hundreds* of dollars from book dealers, IF you can find one. deb ==== GenWisconsin Mailing List ==== ==== GenWisconsin Mailing List ====

Well, I ordered a few of their books a couple of years ago. They are definitely paperback books---in fact, they are Xerox pages that are stapled together. They have a paper cover---not very substantial in my opinion. But the information is all there---at least I sure hope it was!! I was satisfied---I would not recommend these books for any library, unless they were three- hold punched and put into a notebook. They aren't that stiff that they could stand up on a shelf. If it is just for yourself, go for it!!!
