The Omega on Highway 100 just up the street from Grange and just opposite the expressway entrance east has excellent food. Bargain prices. Stuffed peppers, braised pork, Greek specialties. Rather rude fellow who is the manager or receptionist though. He gets upset when you point out that he's about to seat you-who-asked-for-no-smoking next to someone smoking. 92nd and Grange the Family History Center. Not quite walking distance. Also very near both Wehr nature center and Boerner botanic gardens. My Great Grandmother, Wilhelmina was married to Christian Heuer of Wollin, Pommern. She was married twice previously. Her daughter, Bertha married to Charles Krueger and William Knapps, children, Hattie and Gustaf,William,August and Paul(Don't know which children go with which husband) .Her Daughter, Johanna b. 1850, was married previously and had two daughters. Then married Charles FW Kohls in Milwaukee, WI and had Alma Kohls Naps, Clara Kohls Wolfgramm, and a son.On Alma Naps social security app it lists her mother as Johanna Kruger. I don't know if that was her previously married name or her original maiden name. Wilhelmina d.1905 in Milwaukee, sons Charles and August Heuer, Johanna and Bertha, all came to America in 1882.Wilhelmina settled in Milwaukee and married for a 4th and 5th time. I am having a hard time with these relatives because of all of Wilhelmina's and daughter's marriages.Wilhelmina's maiden name supposedly was Yandrey but have found no record anywhere. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
When you are searching for relatives names in cemeteries, be prepared that several family members are often buried on the same lot with only one stone and not all the names are listed. I found this in two different cemeteries. Also, when a person died at a county home, poor house or asylum, they were only buried on these institutions cemetery when they had no close relatives, otherwise they were taken back to their last place of residence or to their closest relative, which could be in another area. vickie
Will be going to Madison WI in September and am planning to do some family research while there. Cd someone send me the address of the Wisconsin Genealogical Society? I belonged to it some time ago, but have lost their address and would like to renew my membership. Here's my family. If there is anyone out there who has connections to this branch of the POWERS family from Madison, I would like to hear from them. Also, if anyone can point me in the right direction to do research in Madison, I would appreciate it. R.F. Powers m Rhoda C. Kidd in NYC in 1850. They had one daughter Lily E (born 1854 in NY). Sometime between 1854 and 1856, they moved to Madison. A second daughter Grace was born in 1858 and a son Ralston Farr ( my grandfather) was born in 1859. The family can be found in the 1860 Federal Census living in Madison (2nd ward, dwelling 251, page 34, line 22). I believe R.F. Powers died on April 2, 1861, as Rhoda purchased a grave site in Forest Hill Cemetery on April 3. In 1876 Ralston Farr Powers was living in San Francisco. He died there in 1913. Does anyone know what happened to Rhoda, Lily and Grace? Also, there may be a connection to a David J. Powers (wife was Eliza A.). Their children were Lorraine E., Francis, and Edmnd H. David may have been related to R.F. Powers as they were involved in several land deals. David's occupation was an Editor and a manufacturer and dealer in farm machinery. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Patricia

I sent this message to Robin! I didn't expect it to be posted for public display.
I thought something sounded familar! I used to live in Blaisdell, N.Y. and Orchard Park, N.Y.. In fact, i used to work for the town of Orchard Park, N.Y., right where the Buffalo Bills stadium is. (Rich Stadium). I drove truck all my adult life. I drove for Red Star Express and for Freezer Queen Foods out of Buffalo. Cliff
Researchers, I am responding to the requests in the order in which I receive them. Please be patient, I will attempt to finish as many as I can this weekend. But , be assured I WILL RESPOND. I have received a lot of help this past year from fellow researchers all over the country, and felt I could give something back by offering to do look-ups. Even though I reside in Buffalo, NY, my heart forever remains in Wisconsin. Thanks, Have a great weekend!! Robin
I think it's great that Robin offered to do these lookups! I often offer to do them also, I always ask for the people requesting lookups from me to provide the first name also and not just the surname. It helps a lot when the surnames are very common. I also ask for requests for lookup to be sent offlist like Robin did. Dear Robin; Almost overwhelmingly nice......and, you may well feel overwhelmed before you are done with requests. Two of us "cuz's" have been on the trail of "what ever happened to WI. PARSHALL's?---and, I might add we've sort of tapped out in counties a little south of you....This could be very helpful to us.......and send us on a new path.... Also, DOERING, FOSTER, and WEBSTER if you have time.... I found ten surnames that I think are all connected, but the above would be the most help ---and I can't thank you enough..... Faye A.
