Let's stop beating this dead horse to death and get on with what we're out here to do. They already said they weren't going to "advertise trips" anymore, so let's leave it alone. For some it didn't matter, while others it was a big deal. Can we end it now? Linda

I did not object either. But I have asked for help in Barron County and have not had the courtesy of a reply yet on where to go to search more for Arnt Andersen Wold who lived in Barron County at Chetak in 1913. Even though the chance of someone knowing the where abouts of this bible is slim, I wanted to put this request out to all readers of this Wisconsin gen list anyway - just in case. I am looking for a family bible that belonged to my Great Grandmother, Frances Louise McDonald Phillips TOOLEY. Some of the surnames likely to be found in the records in this bible are ELLIOTT, McDONALD, PHILLIPS, TOOLEY, and BENJAMIN. This woman and her family lived in Wisconsin for the majority of their days and I'm thinking that it might have been passed down and someone in Wisconsin may still have it. Anyone - by chance know the where it is? Many thanks, Shirley
This posting was on the Roots-L list and thought someone on this list was looking for this family. Please respond directly to the person on the attached. Thank you.
Wasn't there some place in Indiana - where everyone used to elope to. Any one out there remember it????? I understand they have oodles of records from marriages. Hi, back in Illinois, when I got married in 1955 (like someone else said, BIG MISTAKE), marrying age for the female was 18 and the males had to be 21, (his momma had to go with us and sign for him, she should have not signed, but then she was already living with some guy and was considered "common law" married.) It was so embarrassing, I should have caught on then, but what do they say, "at that age, you're young and dumb!" Hope this adds to your query some..................Patti...............

What do you have on KENNEDY? Thanks. Joan
Sharon, In Illinois in 1959 the legal age was 18 for both. You had to have a parent or guardian sign permission (affadavit) if under that age. My Dad signed mine 41 yrs ago. Hahaha maybe we'll make it!!! But you are right in your thought as several people I knew back then ran off to get married but they went to Indiana. They lied about their age and had false IDs Cathie "Every wall is a door." Emerson

Everyone in Louisville, KY crossed the bridge over the Ohio River to Jeffersonville, In to get married.
