    3. If there is someone else in Barron County willing to help it would be much appreciated. The lady never received the information that was researched, as she stayed at my house this summer and knew nothing about Arnt Andersen Wold living at Chetek, Wisconsin until a very kind and courteous staff at the Duluth Minnesota Library helped her this summer. This is my research, as I love to help people find their family. I have been helping her for two years. I belong to the Genealogical Society here in Minnesota and would never dream of charging for my time for lookups. The only thing I charge for is the cost of Certified Copies if they request one. I was not offended, nor did I think it was spam when I read the FIRST message from you pertaining to this LEGITIMATE TOUR. But, after reading it a dozen times, I was getting annoyed. Now, this message of yours (below) is enough to make a sane person PUKE. The vile side of your personality is showing, deary. Have you had a checkup lately? It didn't appear ONCE, or just on the state list, but on every Wisconsin list that I belong to -- and that's quite a few. It seems to me this is something you could have handled privately. It also seems to me that you must be terribly in need of attention -- be it good or be it bad attention. I'm sorry for you. Please cease and desist and get back to answering your LEGITIMATE MAIL and keeping your promises to people who really need help in Barron County. 1. [GenWisconsin] Cease Fire~!~!~
    2. Well Good Evening All~ Seems I have come home from my family reunions to an 'online' children's fight~ Everyone who wishs to stay on the GenWisconsin list needs to get back in line and do genealogy. This as we all are aware, including those who comment on the original email.. and then in turn create more comments, that is why it is called a 'flame' EACH person adds fuel to the fire. The person or persons involved will be removed from the list. This cannot be tolerated! If anyone has any comments, good or bad, to make direct them to the listowner at kingsley@aol.com, Brenda Moore. There are over 400 people on this list so if you think in terms of a gathering? things really do quite well on this list. So, back to 'work' and let's do genealogy~ Thank you Brenda GenWisconsin-l@rootsweb.com kingsley@aol.com to unsub write to GenWisconsin-L-request@rootsweb.com for individual list and type the word unsubcribe and nothing else IF you are getting the digest .. write to GenWisconsin-D-request@rootsweb.com

    1. [GenWisconsin] content use of mailing list
    2. Hi everyone, Regarding content use of mailing list: These are my thoughts. As list owner, I wish to see: Events going on in Wisconsin or anywhere else. All of us have ancestors in other places but not all of us have time or access to seek out all of what is going on. So, everyone has my permission to post seminars, tours etc. UNLESS it gets out of control then different arrangements will have to be made. I also, give permission to list any book, CD or resource on the mailing list as long as it is regarding ONLY WISCONSIN. At the moment, I cannot think of anything else that would be applicable to the list. If anyone has suggestions or comments write to kingsley@aol.com, Brenda Moore Thank You Brenda kingsley@aol.com genwisconsin mailing list owner

    1. KY: Posting Bond
    2. MAK
    3. A query came up about the custom in KY of posting bonds for person's to be married. It was noted that both white and black marriages had bonds posted. And that the majority of individuals where under 21... Here are the questions: What was the law? (age, amount of bond, everyone or certain individuals) Who typically posted the bonds? (parents, plantation owner, etc) Was the bond returned, if so, are there records? Are there any references which would elaborate on the posting on bonds custom? We are researching the MILLION surname in Madison Co, KY: and our pages are at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~wiwood/MAK-roots/Million/s-million.htm The city of MILLION, Madison Co, KY was named for our ancestor B B MILLION. We are also looking for more information on this obscure mention in two Madison Co, KY history books. I appreciate your time and consideration in this matter. 1. [GenWisconsin] my 2 cents (delete if not interested)
    2. Hi list, 2 weeks ago my computer went wacky and when I finally got back up, I found 350+ e-mails, all genealogy. I belong to numerous lists and when I saw a duplicate posting, I deleted it. I have looked and responded to my mail and was very grateful to come upon Robin who helped me with a Bio. I also connected to Star O on a similar line. I connected with others on numerous lists and was so happy! Please, lets not fight. If ever I find something offensive, I will direct my e-mail to that person alone, not make the list a sounding board. Respectively, Kathy

    1. [GenWisconsin] Not Spam, but Genealogy
    2. Hi, I am researching New England as my folks went to WI from New England, some permanently and some temporarily......so I am very much interested in both places and do very much appreciate your posting of the tour. I only wish I could take advantage of it as it sounds like a great chance to do genealogy. But I just got home after doing genealogy in Wisconsin for 2 weeks and cannot take advantage of your tour. Even if I was not doing genealogy in NE, I have no qualms about anyone posting info. about other other states or countries for that mattter on this list. So please keep sending any genealogy information you feel might be helpful. It is appreciated! Thanks. Janet

May I just say that 1) yes, it was a little annoying having constant notices about the tour; 2) all I had to do to alleviate the annoyance was click delete; 3) I would hope to have A notification of any tours like this in the future because there may be one to any area where my family was; and 4) I don't really think it's necessary for anyone to get nasty with each other. Each of us is trying to learn something about our roots, and, hopefully, we're also trying to help others on the list. I delete many many emails every day because they either don't pertain to my family or because I have no information to offer. I shouldn't holler that only messages that are of interest to me should be posted - nor should I get upset if people don't like getting repeat messages about the same thing. Many of us are on multiple mailing lists, and it's unlikely we will miss something sent to several lists. So I guess what I'm saying is we need to watch out for overkill, and we need to remember we're adults when we don't like something that occurs on a list. Now, could we all smile, "shake hands", and get back to what we all love? Star O

    2. Tom and Diana Morse
    3. I bought the book on ebay. it is a "cult" classic and his a pictorial and local newspaper essay on the timeframe of 1890 to 1910. the photos were taken by a local photographer, Charles Van Schaick. the tex was recorded by a father/son team, Frank Cooper and son George in a weekly paper. I didnt know that the town they referred to was Black River Falls, however. I dont know how they could make a movie out of this book. it is just a potpourri of photos and stories. Diana Morse
