    1. [GenWisconsin] Biri, Snertingdal, Vardal, Gjøvik emigration
    2. Thomas and/or Joyce Urban
    3. For a few days I will be able to do look ups from the book UTVANDRINGEN TIL AMERIKA fra Biri/Snertingdal/Vardal/Gjøvik 1846-1905 book by Halvard Oudenstad. The book is in Norwegian, but I should be able to give an adequate, if not complete, information about any information that is in the book. The book does not have all emigrants, of course. I have not found all of my family there but did find most of them. I will answer ONLY those requests sent to me OFF LIST. I will, however, send responses both to the list and to the person who requested the look up. Joyce

    3. I just ran across these for auction at eBay -- click on the links for more information. I don't know the person selling them, I'm not reccomending anything, and if you haven't ever purchased from eBay, please, PLEASE read over the caveats and purchase "smart". :) That said, you can find things here for much less than you can find them from used book dealers when they show up, anyway. 1. [GenWisconsin] Re: backup of files on Ultimate Family tree
    2. Willes Traver
    3. Hi I don't have Ultimate. But see if you have this ability. Open Ultimate Family File. Now go to the menu and look under file for backup. If so, click on it and and then tell it where you want to back it up. It should list different drives or options on your computer, Such as A, C, D, or whatever the names of your drives are. Back it up to a floppy disk (a) make take more than one, but the computer will tell you when to put in another disc. Make sure you label your disks in the order they were copied. Then when you have that, go to your new computer and open the Ultimate Family Tree and install to your new computer. If you don't have the term backup file on the menu, use export file. Hope this helps you. Sally

    1. [GenWisconsin] Genealogical Research?
    2. Robin Comeau
    3. Researchers, I have not been a subscriber to this list for very long, less than a month I think, and in that time I have seen more squabbling between folks than I read on the front page of the evening newspaper. 'Family Research', I thought is intended to weave a common thread among all. Don't we all want to make the skeletons dance? The respect we show one another now, is a reflection on the the very families whom are responsible for our existence. I am so grateful for the chance to be able to ask and receive information that may have otherwise taken me months to obtain. Now, as my 21 year old son would say, 'Ma, enough with the lecture!' Sorry folks, I just had to say something. Robin Buffalo, NY
