Even if you would have proof read this message what could you have left out??? It sounds 100% Family talk to me. I must have heard 80% of these sayings from my Mom and Dad, and I know they loved me. But then I'm from the old school, you listen and learn. No need for a apology on this message, it brings back happy memories. Bud Reel wrote: > This is great. My mother taught me the same things. I am not sure why you sent an apology re "Mother Taught Me". I am a Wisconsin German/Dutch and sounds like home to me! Maybe if we were more concerned with raising and loving our children and less with political correctness, our country and our children would have less problems! Just a thought! TDavi, Do you really hate your mother that much! I can't relate to any of this and neither can my daughter.
This has to top everything else I have read. It is so true!! I said every single one of these to my kids! Oh, that they would have been smart enough to listen! Attention TDavi: Please don't--that is very funny. I could happily relate to it. Laura
I do not find this offensive and it would be of a service to get back to living life as our ancestors did. I have shared this with my children and I thank you. Check the 1840 WI census. There was one. 2. Check the glorecords for land patents. These are on the internet. 3. The Milwaukee territory of that period consisted of most of the southeastern counties. That is, from Madison to Lake Michigan, from Illinois to Lake Winnebago and environs. Someone earlier was talking about the Fairbanks and there were an awful lot of them in the 1847 territorial census of Waupun County which is above Milwaukee. An awful lot of New Englanders settled in that area. Also, there are Area Research Centers that will help you. The people are ever so nice and have sent me pieces of my history over the years. There is one in Mil waukee. I think the Golda Meir Library in Milwaukee may be a good place to start. After you do the above, of course. Good luck!! Jacqueline rae-sack@worldnet.att.net > > >

My family were from WI and I think some of these things may have originated that far back -- so it is no doubt appropriate for this list. Thanks. Norma Jean Herzman Oregon City, OR
What info of the 52nd co D do you have? Bob
I see where I really goofed sending my prior joke. I am very sorry for this and promise to proofread where I am sending things better.

Kathy, The 51st Wisconsin Infantry Regiment was organized at Camp Washburn, Milwaukee, WI, during February, March and April, 1865. Eight companies left the state in the latter part of April, and proceeded to St. Louis, MO. The other four companies were shortly thereafter mustered out. The eight companies at St. Louis, MO were assigned to duty in western Missouri until August, when the regiment was returned to Madison, WI. The unit was mustered out by companies from the 11th to the 30th of November, 1865, and disbanded.
Dear all, I recently discovered a daughter of my 3-greats-grandparents that I hadn't known about before. Her 1846 obituary in Vermont said Harriet Farnsworth died at age 35 at the home of her father John Leslie while visiting from Wisconsin. (John Leslie & his wife Polly lived in Plymouth, Windsor County, VT.) I would like to find what Farnsworth she married (although I supposed they were probably married in Vermont before migrating west), and the story of their settling in Wisconsin, whether they had any children there, etc. Does anyone recognize this person, or know of any likely place in Wisconsin to start looking for FARNSWORTH settlers before 1846?
