Iris, You maybe right on the microfilm. My mistake, I meant the microfiche index which has the same info you see on ancestry. These records are from the state of WI. I have access to the pre 1907 death index microfilm from WI at my local FHC and the info is the same. ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com
Vickie, I found several of my ancestors that I haven't been able to find elsewhere on the death index and have sent to the state for the certificates. The index provides the name, death date, county, vol.#, page #, image # and sequence #. I don't understand your comments. Are you saying this isn't an index from the State of Wisconsin Records. I sure hope you're wrong because I just sent for about 6 records from them using the reference numbers I found on ancestry.com. The description of the index states it is from their records and says if you find an ancestor to write to them and gives their address. Sue
Hi:- I hope too many of you will not be disappointed in the Ancestry Death Index for Wisconsin. They do not have that many Wisconsin names. They take the names from family histories that were sent to them. I have many Wisconsin obituaries and not one of those names were on the Ancestry list. Family Tree Maker does the same thing. They accept your family histories and put them on CD's and sell that same information. vickie
No vickie you are wrong... you have Ancestry mixed with Famliy tree maker. Ancestry has just put the names on that were on the official pre 1905 wisconsin list, and there were not that many names..... has nothing to do with sent in family histories. You can also view the list on microfilms at the LDS family history centers, but not near as conviently.... The deaths had to be registared to make the list and it was not required back then... many of my family didn't make the list either... but it has nothing what-so-ever to do with Ancestry.com, and everything to do with Wisconsin not really caring to do record keeping in those days... Hi Mel! Surprised, huh?? Dell Prairie is located in Adams County. It is both a township in the southern part of the county and is a town. Adams County was formed 22 March 1948 from Portage County. This info is from the "Cow Book", from Origins in Janesville. Wisconsin, Its Counties, townships and Villages. Peg :-)
Hi Does any one on the list know where Dell Prairie is located in Wisc.? I just located Marcus Smith, who I believe is my g grandfather on the Civil War Roster. It stated that he lived in Dell Prairie when he enlisted. I cannot find in my atlas. Thanks. Mel
Marnie, My e-mail has been doing that the last several weeks and I don't recall that it ever did before. Has it got something to do with HTML stuff and not plain text? I don't like it. Why all of a sudden? Hi Wanted to let everyone know that Ancestry Com has the death index on line for the years 1820-1907. It is free until 8/31. Sally
Auntie, whenever they add a popular feature, like a death index, that then gets publicized on a huge listing like gen wis... the system boggs down for a few days... Go to it at horrible hours like 4:30 am and it will work fine Iris (who doesn't sleep)

Hi genies, I am looking for deaths of a Henry CASSELMAN and his wife Josephine E. nee CUNNINGHAM. Josephine was married on the 1920 Census and deceased by March 1940 and no death records have been located in Chicago. Would SKS please advise if they are on line or a address I may write to? Many thanks. Michele in the 2000 Olympic City, Australia----26 days to GO.
Hi Was wondering what surnames you are tracking in Arkdale?
Hi, My parents were married in a church in Arkdale, WI., but I don't know which one. The Pastor's last name was Beck. I'm wondering if he is related to my Aunt Shirley's husband Raymond Beck. They live in Arkdale, WI. I'll have to call my aunt soon.
