    2. Thanks Iris, I thought I was reading the database info right but then after Vicki's post thought I might have misinterpreted it so went back and reread it. Can't wait to get the records. The membership I've paid to Ancestry is well worth it in my opinion. I've gotten a lot of info from that site as well as others. Sue

    2. Sue the list is from the state, copied by the LDS on microfilm (great but you have to order different reels for different dates or names.. and now thanks to Ancestry.com available on the computer... at home with the ease of a query.... Been checking names half the day, that I wasn't willing to order film for because I didn't know the dates ..now it is so easy.... Fear not, the info should be accurate and it is from state sources. 3. Joseph-- I have a ggrandmother, Sarah O'Brien, for whom I need information. Sarah was born in Canada(maybe, this is listed on her death certificate)_to John O'Brien(lots of luck with this one). I found 28 in a little province in Canada. She was born 18 November 1870. I believe she lived in WI for awhile, as my grandmother said that she had relatives here. She was married about 1886, maybe Wi maybe IA. She married Frederick or Joseph Altenbach(hard time finding him). They moved to Des Moines because her first child, Hugh Edward, was born there(wedding record) and then they went to TX. They had a son, John about 1888 and my grandmother, Loretta Christina, 1890. There are several different stories as to how Fred died, but I shan't go into that at this point. Suffice it to say that after his death, Sarah packed up and went to Milwaukee. She married Fisher, SR in November 1894 and Fischer, JR in 1895(marriage records in the court house). The Altenbach children were married in the St Francis Church there. I don't know what else I can tell you. I would be most greatful for any information you have. Sincerely, Jacqueline rae-sack@worldnat.att.net

    3. To the contrary, the death index that Ancestry has put online is from the Wisconsin State records: "Source Information: Ancestry.com. Wisconsin Death Index, 1820-1907. Provo, UT: Ancestry.com, 2000. Original Data: Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services. Wisconsin Vital Record Index, pre-1907. Madison, WI: Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services Vital Records Division, 19xx." http://www.ancestry.com/search/rectype/inddbs/4984.htm Which don't claim to be complete -- but they're original source records. -deb - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - deb Christensen (deb_msn@msn.com) Graphics Connection Forum http://www.computingcentral.com/topics/graphics/ ----- Original Message ----- From: "vickie" <ves@globaldialog.com> To: <GenWisconsin-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, August 22, 2000 5:39 AM Subject: [GenWisconsin] Ancestry, Inc. > Hi:- I hope too many of you will not be disappointed in the Ancestry Death Index for Wisconsin. 3. Description: This database indexes over 435,000 deaths recorded in the state of Wisconsin prior to 1907. Wisconsin is one of few states to have a wide-spread index of records prior to establishment of a state vital records office. However, it is important to note that there will be some records at the county level not included in this statewide index. Taken from the index created by the Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services, Vital Records Division this database will prove useful to those seeking ancestors in early Wisconsin. vickie wrote: > Hi:- I hope too many of you will not be disappointed in the Ancestry Death Index for Wisconsin.
