    1. [GenWisconsin] WI marriage records - Vernon
    2. Lita, The following explains why there is no vernon county marraiges on line. The info is found just below the search engine for the WI marriage index at http://www.ancestry.com/search/rectype/inddbs/4997.htm I was rather disappointed since my early ancestors were in Bad Axe/Vernon County. Hope it is answers your question. Description: This index contains over 920,000 individuals married in the state of Wisconsin prior to 1907. Wisconsin is one of few states to have a wide-spread index of records prior to establishment of a state vital records office. However, it is important to note that there will be some records at the county level not included in this statewide index. Taken from the index created by the Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services, Vital Records Division this database lists only those counties indexed by the state of Wisconsin. The entries for Racine County are incomplete, and all counties following Racine in alphabetical order are not included in this index.

    2. I haven't noticed any Vernon county marriages in the marriage records. Has anyone seen any? I'm not getting anything on the names I have there and didn't notice any when keeping an eye out for them while looking up other names. Lita I have gone to find myself. If I get back before I return, please ask me to wait!

    1. Re: [GenWisconsin] Marriage Records
    2. Dear Lita: I don't think these two people married each other. One is recorded in Vol. 3, and the other in Volume 5. That would be very, very strange for a marriage record for a couple to be in two different volumes. Which one of these individuals is your relative -- either of them?? Also, the sequence numbers are way off for the two you cited. Please give me whatever information you have that is certain and I will try to find a partner for you. 1. thanks to Norma re free Wisc marr
    2. Frank & Jeannette Sauntry
    3. Norma helped me solve one problem on the Wisc marriages and I thank her for all the help she is giving all of us. I thought I would add my experience with one other couple just to show how far one should search. I found an ancestor on the marriage list but the date was two days earlier than I expected and I could not find his wife. I did find her, name misspelled and on the correct date. I have from the family bible George H Rapley marrying Luella Jane Richardson 25 November 1884 in Cameron Wisconsin. When doing the search I could not find Luella under any variation of Richardson, using date, name or initial until some how I looked only at the month and year and came up with the following. So leave no stone unturned. Name: George H Rapley, Marriage Date: 23 Nov 1884, County: Barr, Volume: 01, Page: 0120 County: Bar, Volume: R, Sequence: 06254 Name: Lula Richardson, Marriage Date: 25 Nov 1884, County: Barr, Volume: 01, Page: 0120, County: Bar, Volume: R, Sequence: 06292 Many thanks to Norma.
