My ggrandfather's tombstone has AOUW (Ancient Order of United Workmen) on it. I have previously found one reference to it - only that the AOUW helped start a cemetery. Does anyone know anything about this fraternal order. Thanks. Carol Johnson

I hope people don't get tired of me throwing out these names. With everyone subscribing and unsubscribing, maybe I will find some relation. I am looking for descendants of Henry, Mary, Louise and Edward Nehring. Their father died in 1898 and is buried in Guttenburg. On the 1900 census, My grandfather was working on a farm and not living with the family. If I remember only the youngest ones were at home. Henry, Louise and Edward and Bertha. Mary was born 1871. She may have helped out or later helped raise some of the younger ones. I don't know where Mary ended up either. Edward was born 1891, with him being the youngest. Bertha ended up in Wisc., John another brother, ended up in St. Paul. I am sure the kids were farmed out to work. My grandfather was Herman. I have photos of most of these people taken in Minnesota, but Bertha still has descendants in Wisc. Thanks for any help on these families and Thank you everyone for all the leads you have sent. Thanks Thanks Thanks.
There is a whole group of CIZEWSKI in the Portage Co, and Wood Co, WI areas. I am going to cc' Sandy Ciszewski and ask her for help. Who knows??? Also, perhaps Char Zaleski can do lookups in her books for you. Good luck. R/S MAK ps The "COW" book is called that because it is Black and White like our Holsteins...
