Loretta, I have had several people try to find one in Oshkosh or Omro newspapers but no luck. They were able to find her husband, George W., who died in 1903 but Rachael remains elusive. That is why I figured that she moved somewhere with one of her daughters. Of course, the strange thing is that I looked through the 1905 Wisconsin census yesterday for Omro and couldn't find any of my relatives, not even my great grandfather, who I have been told didn't move to Texas until 1908. Well, I guess I will try a shot at seeing if there is a death certificate available without having a county. Hopefully, I'll find her someday! :-) Have a great day, Ken Spangler [email protected] Dallas, Texas ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, October 06, 2002 2:16 AM Subject: Re: [GenWisc] Question about death certificates > Hi Ken, Did you try to get an obit from the paper in the town where your > grandma is BURIED---A lot of times a big obit is in the paper one last lives > and a smaller one in the paper where she/he is buried.---Loretta > > > ==== GenWisconsin Mailing List ==== > Mailing list moderator: Brenda K. Jan, Thanks so much for this info. It's kind of like the D.A.R. and such but this is for the Civil War. I'll look in to it more. Do I wish! It sure would be a lot cheaper ($12.00 now) and less time consuming. I use the archives whenever I can. Am more than glad to give a donation for their time. Have had really great results with the Plattville and Stephens Pt. ones. Eau Claire is a little snotty in my opinion. I am an alumni from there and I still was informed," I don't have time to look up a census!" Michele

You will probably have to write to Vital Stats for Wis. in Madison. I may be mistaken, but I believe the archives would have certs. only up to 1907. Michele
Hi, Can someone answer a question for me? I am trying my hardest to find my gg grandmother's place of death. I know where she is buried but I can't find the obit in that county. My question is this - can I request a copy of the death certificate from the Wisconsin Archives without a county listed. As I said, I have the birth and death date, and I know where she is buried. I just can't find where she died. Being as she died in 1908, it seems there would be an obit in whatever county that she was in. Do you think that I would be able to get the info I need from a death certificate from the state and would I be able to get it without a county name listed? Thanks for your time, Ken Spangler [email protected] Dallas, Texas
I now believe that my great great Aunt Emily Gerth Radtke was married to a man named John Radtke I have found papers that state some things that may prove this John Radtke born Germany 1851 came to the port of Milwaukee June 1872 he petitioned to became a citizen in Oct 23 1890. At that time he was forty-two. This matches the same year that my aunt Emily Gerth Radtke came to the USA on the ship the Norma. Emily parents were Henry Gerth and his wife I don't know her name but her maiden name was BETHKE and Emily sisters were Johann Sharlotte Carol Gerth Steinke (Milwaukee, WI) Minnie Gerth Stempke (Menomonee Falls, WI) Fredricka Gerth Ott and Caroline Gerth Plautz(Greenbay, WI Area) also Looking for anyone that may be related or have any information. Appears that may have lived inhe Milwaukee area around 21st and Brown between the years of 1872 to about 1900 but cant be sure thank you Lynda Doberstein
Closing Date Announcement Genealogy Department of the Allen County Public Library, Fort Wayne, Indiana The Historical Genealogy Department of the Allen County Public Library will close for relocation on Saturday, December 14, 2002 at 6pm. The department will remain closed through the month of January 2003. This is to allow time to move all our materials to our interim location. The current building will be going through renovation and expansion. Will materials be available? All our research materials will be available up until Saturday, December 14 at 6pm. At that time the department will be closed so we can move all our materials to our interim location. When the library opens at that location, we will have all our books, microforms and periodicals ready for research. Why will we be closed? Closing the department will allow us to move the whole collection at once instead of doing it piecemeal. This will ensure that the materials you are coming to Fort Wayne to use for your research will be available when you arrive, offering the full collection for our researchers. If we moved pockets of materials, what you needed for your research might not be available. By moving the whole collection at once it will ensure that the materials you are interested in will be available until we close on December 14th, and when we reopen in late January 2003. Where will the interim location be? The interim location of the Allen County Public Library will be at 200 East Berry St., Fort Wayne, Indiana. Locally, it is called Renaissance Square. It is 5 blocks to the east from the current library. There will be limited free parking available; there is also a pay parking garage across the street and more than 150 metered spaces in close proximity. What will the interim location be like? One of the most exciting things about our interim location is that the genealogy collection will be a browsing collection. All the materials will be out and available for the researcher to retrieve them. Materials will not have to be paged; the shelves will be open. How long will we be in the interim location? The projected time frame is 2-3 years. How can I find out more information? Visiting the library web site http://www.acpl.lib.in.us phoning the department at 260-421-1225 is the best way to get current relocation information. This is a very exciting time for all of us, librarians and researchers alike. Our goal is to keep our patrons informed and continue to offer the highest level of customer service possible now, in our interim location, and in our newly renovated library. For further contact, please phone the department or email Curt Witcher, Manager, Historical Genealogy Department-ACPL at [email protected] or Susan Kaufman Tavenner, Librarian, Historical Genealogy Department-ACPL at [email protected] Please publish and/or pass this information on to all others that might be interested. Thank you! Sincerely, Curt Witcher, Manager, Historical Genealogy Department Susan Kaufman Tavenner, Librarian, Historical Genealogy Department
Try the Register of Deeds office in the county you are looking for. Muriel Ken Spangler wrote: > Oops, sorry! I forgot to mention the years I am looking for. Hello I have been doing research on the Bingham and Kentner families for many years now. They lived in the Barre, and LAcrosse Co. area for the ears from 18501- 1865 +-. An item I have never been able to verify is their marriage in Sparta in Dec 1855. William Bingham married Maria Kentner in Dec-Jan 1855 in Sparta Wisconsin. I have found both earlier marriages of related family members, and later marriages in various lists. Are there lists or data that have never been arrainged, or where would a list of churches most likely be that might have this information? Are there marrriages that have never been sorted in any fashion?? I'm grasping at straws, so any help would be most appreciated. I have looked in the LaCrosse Co. marrriage list and the Monroe Co. but it seems gaps are in the lists leading to the question of other unfornatted information. If there is someone who might do a bit of work of tis kind, I would be interested in conversing with you.

Oops, sorry! I forgot to mention the years I am looking for. Of course, I am not totally sure of the year but I do know this - in the 1900 census neither of them is married. Georgia (I believe this is right) is 24 and Bessie is 14. So, it would be somewhere after 1900. I just don't have a year for sure. I was wondering if someone might have a book or something with a list of the marriages in either Winnebago Co. or Langlade Co.
