    1. [GenWisc] KLASSYs from New Glarus area
    2. Hello all, I am new to list and new to genealogy. I started 5 Sept 2002 and with help from others and a lot of time on the computer, I have a lot on my 4 grandparents. My ggrandpa came from New Glarus Swiss area and was in Civil War. There are many great cousins who still live there, whom I have just "met" on the computer. But GGrandpa George KLASSY left WI for SD via Ill and Iowa. Are any of you related to KLASSYs from New Glarus area? Would be glad to hear from you. 3. I'm not sure but I think that the hobby farm we acquired in 1980 was in Maple Grove township before the boundaries changed to Prairie Lake township. There was a Espeseth who homesteaded there in 1887 and then sold it to his brother a couple years later. I can't lay my hands on the abstract at this moment but I am curious to know if this man was born on our place. We still have the original log house , barn and outhouse that we have tried to restore. Those buildings(except the outhouse, because we are not finished with it) are still in use today. We don't live there year around but just in the summer. 3. Hi Here is what I found on him, unfortunately, it may not be the Gotleib you are looking for because he died in WI, but never the less here it is: Wisconsin Vital Records Death Index. Name: Gotleib Schmidt Death Date: 07 Jul 1907 County: Dodge Volume: 03 Page: 0316 Reel: 020 Image: 0325 Index Volume: - Sequence #: 341350 was hoping I could find a marriage record for you. There was also a Gotleib Schmidt in the Oregon Death Index. If you want that record let me know. I did do a first name search for Gotleib and still nothing in marriages for anything close to Schmidt, there was only one marriage and the Surname started with a B. And I cannot get into my census images, for some reason for two days, or I would check that too, because 1870 is searchable, bummer.. 3. Hello, Could you look up a death index for me in WI please. My G G G Grandfather William Wicker died in WI around 1873. The family is on the 1870 census in WI. but not on the 1880. After his death my Grandmother moved to Kansas and is listed as a Widow on the 1880 census in Kansas. They had several children. My Grandmother Elizabeth Wicker was born in bangor WI in 1861 I think that is where William Died I was told he died from a gun shot wound to the back becasue the sheriff shot him because william was accused of stealing a Harness from a neighbor. So when the sheriff caought up him he drew his gun and told william to stop. William did not speak any English at all he was from Prussia ( Old Germany ) so william took off and the sheriff shot and the bullet hit William in the back killing him instantly. Could you also look up my Grandmothers birth. When it comes to computer information, v*r information, etc. go to someone who KNOWS about it to check on what you should do!!!!! This mailing list is not a computer list!!! I belong to other lists, am new to genealogy and fairly new to web, so when I first read this posting, which was "going around" about 6 weeks ago I DID it!!!!! NO NO NO!!! NEVER anything off of your computer without checking with Norton Symantec or McAfee sites. They are free and reputable! Those kinds of postings in the first place, should not be on this list, and in the second place don't take that kind of advice from someone you do not know!!!! This exe program has to do with your computer accepting java, which is NEEDED in some cases! Leave your computer alone, buy a good v*r program, join a v*r mailing list to discuss and get back to genealogy! Char Keeping the Humor [email protected]

    3. Quite a few Germans moved from WI to Oregon and Washington state in the 1870s and 1880s. Found a lot at the cemeteries at Washougal and Camus, Washington and in Oregon. Good luck with your research!
