    1. [GenWisc] Wisconsin Marriage Records
    2. granykratz
    3. About Dec. 11-16, 1898, my grandfather Albert F. W. Gramlow traveled by train from Mountain Lake, MN to Marshfield, WI where he was part of a wedding party. I have a picture of this wedding party, but he is the only one I am able to identify. On Dec. 16 he traveled from Marshfield back to his childhood home in Dodge Co., WI where he spent the holiday season. Does anyone have access to a possible 'marriage' record list for Marshfield, Wood Co., WI that might identify couples who married between approximately Dec. 11-16, 1898 ... perhaps names would JUMP OUT at me as known family, friends or neighbors. Thanks a bunch. God bless, Carole Kratz

    3. ______________________________X-Message: #4 Date: Sun, 24 Nov 2002 20:31:31 -0800 From: "Neal W. Degner" <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Message-ID: <[email protected]> Subject: [WiWashin] Lutheran imigration Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" As detailed below in the Pommersche Verein Freistadt Rundschreiben, the club will be publishing Wilhelm Iwan's book, Die Altlutherische Auswanderung um die Mitte Des 19 Jahrhundert's. This book is significant as it contains quite a number of the early settlers to Wisconsin from Pommern and Silesia. This translation is a big project. Most of the books and records were destroyed during the bombing of WWII. Translation was begun in the 1940s but was not continued until now. I have found two of my ancestors in this book with the town of origin and the date they came. Since many of the Pommeranian records were destroyed during the war, this book is very valuable. If you ancestors were Lutheran, came to Wisconsin or New York from about the 1830s to 1860s they could be in here. b

    1. [GenWisc] POORHOUSE Information
    2. Poor House Lady
    3. We would like to invite you to re-visit our website, The POORHOUSE STORY (a clearinghouse for information about 19th century American poorhouses) at http://www.poorhousestory.com We have just posted something which we believe will be of interest to researchers throughout your state. That is a portion of a 1904 federal government report which summarizes the poor laws in every state. On the WISCONSIN page we have copied the excerpt for just your state. It is interesting to see how the laws varied from state to state. And understanding which state or county agency had administrative responsiblity over poorhouses may help you locate local poorhouse records more easily. DIRECTIONS: At the homepage (link above) click on POORHOUSES BY STATE, then on WISCONSIN on the table of states. If you have been to the website recently you may have to click REFRESH or RELOAD on the browser to see the new information. You will find the link to this excerpt near the top of the page in a section titled HISTORY and marked with a big yellow NEW arrow. There are other pages on the site which may give you some interesting perspective on poorhouses. They are off the homepage and include: the HISTORY page and the LETTER TO GENEALOGISTS as well as FEATURED ARTICLES. There are great tips for researching poorhouse records for yourself on the RECORDS page; and you might want to subscribe to our (almost) monthly newletter (which you can do in the lower right corner of the homepage). The information on our site will only grow through the submissions of generous readers. If you would like to e-mail me ... please do so off-list because I cannot maintain subscriptions to as many lists as we post messages on. (You can use an e-mail link off one of our web pages.) We hope you enjoy the site! Thanks, Linda Crannell (aka=The Poorhouse Lady)

Her father's surname was either Samuel Knuutila, Gobi or Sampson. Mary's mother's maiden name was Susan Lahti. Thanks!! Ron
