    3. Hi Everyone, Does anyone have an Ervin Berndt who was once married to Nina Wildish. They were divorced. He would be close to 80 years old today. His estranged daughter, Bonnie (age 59), would like information on her dad. She said he was born in the Medford, WI area. She has no idea where he might have lived after that, or if he is still living. She is not on the internet, so I am posting this for her in hopes we can trance her family. If anyone can help, please write to me. Thanks! Patti Laessig at [email protected]

    3. In 1869 the Wilhelm Gramlow family emigrated on the ship New York, arriving at Port of New York May 13. I found their emigration records right after I got my Family Tree software last year and I had purchased access to the genealogy.com research for a short period of time with it. If anyone has ability to check via this genealogy.com link off their Family Tree software (or other sources) I would like to know if the Wilhelm Beske family also was on that ship (just found the wives are sisters). Beske family was Wilhelm (43), Sophia (43), Herman (20), Amelia (18), Augusta (15) or ages thereabouts. These families lived adjacent to each other per 1870 census so pretty good chance they traveled together. Thanks a bunch. Carole Kratz

    3. Dear Carol, Thank you. You are very generous. Our relative was Robert George ATKIN. He must have been in Wisconsin earlier, maybe any time between 1905 and 1920 and was possibly back in England by 1920. We have a photo of his son Leslie Atkin, born 1904 in Liverpool, aged about 20 in the photo with a Kenosha address written on the back, which is why I was interested in the 1920 Census. 3. Dear Beryl, Ancestry.Com has the 1920 census on line, however you have to subscribe in order to access the census's. I checked the 1920 census and found there are 7 Atkin Families in the state of Wisconsin, none in Kenosha however. William age 44 Clark Co, Huron Henry age 67 Sheboygan Co., Lyndon Clara age 46 " " Lezbith age 75 " , Sheboygan Benjamin 31 " " Joe 16 Waukesha Co, Waukesha John S. 32 " " I would be glad to send you details from the census if any of these could be your family. I did look at the information for the 16 year old, I was curious why a boy that young would be listed alone. I found he was an inmate at the Wisconsin Industrial School for Boys, which I found interesting. 1. [GenWisc] Van Tilburg--still searching
    2. Hello listers, I am still searching for Antone Van Tilburg and his family. There was his wife Nellie(Petronella) and daughter Minnie. Antone and his wife immigrated in 1892 from holland. They had been married 2 years before. They lived in Little Chute Wisconsin until at least 1908. Childless, in 1902 they adopted "Minnie" off of an Orphan Train in Little Chute. By 1910, they show up in the Depere area. The 1920 census show Antone and his wife still living in Depere. No Minnie in the census. By the 1930 census, none of them show up. Antone had a brother Lambert who also lived in the Depere area. Lambert died in 1916. His daughter Nettie, as well as Antone attended the funeral according to the Obit. His wife had passed before he immigrated with his daughter from Holland. Accoding to the obit, his daughter was Mrs. Gerold Stacey of Fond Du lac. I amtrying to find any connection to Antone. Can you help? Anyone in Wisconsin doing census work anywhere. I would like to find him in the 1930 census somewhere. Or, in a newspaper mention from 1920 to 1930???? In Depere? Thank you, Michael

    3. Hello, Though I did not see the ancestor I am searching for, I do have a question. My g-g-grandmother was Mary Ann Peake from Manchester, England. She was born August 6, 1828 or 1829. Came to the United States around 1843-1844 as best I can figure. Mary Ann married James Smith on December 28, 1847 in St. Louis, Missouri. She passed away on May 7, 1855 of Cholera in Missouri. Mary Ann may have had a sister Alice who married a Higgs. They were all from England. After all of that, my question is this. Could the surname have been spelled Peeke as well as Peake ? This is all I have been able to find out about my g-g-grandmother. Many thanks, Leta from Maryland ----- Original Message ----- From: "Thomas Peeke" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, December 16, 2002 3:07 PM Subject: [GenWisc] Family Surnames > > Hi, > > I have listed below some of the Surnames that I am researching and where > I have traced them back to in the UK. 2. Arc Information
    3. Hello: I am the great grand daughter of Earl Bailey who I understand was adopted by the Bailey family. Lived in Elroy Wisconsin. I know his birth name was Wyman and that there was Gerrity or Garrity relatives in his line of heritage. I have not done a great deal of work on him as I have been trying to unravel my grandmothers past. She was the adopted daughter of Earl and Bridgett Bailey. Her birth name was Anna Kumferman birth daughter of Louis and Mary Kumferman. In 1909 she and her four siblings were surrendered to the Sparta Childrens Home due to her parents divorce. Louis went on to marry two more times, producing another family by his third wife. As for Mary, there seems to be no trace of her. All I know is that she lived in Cobbin Wis. Have never found any death info or otherwise. Anna was adopted by Earl and Bridgett. Having quite a time with her past as so many records do not exist or are lost. If you notice a connection of our Garrity lineage and your family I would love to know more. Thank you for your time. My Grandfather had a 1st Cousin called Elizabeth Mary Speare (Betty) she was born 20th June 1912 at Grace Hospital, Winnipeg, Manitoba. Daughter of Mary Jane Rogers from Helmshore, Lancashire, UK & William Henry Speare (24/08/1888-11/1962) from Torquay, Devon. Her Parents were married 14th March 1911 in Totnes, Devon and then left the UK to go to Canada. William worked as a builder in Winnipeg. During the First World War the family returned to the UK and in 1919 Elizabeth's Mother Died in a flu epidemic and is buried in Helmshore. Elizabeth & her brother William (Bill) returned to Winnipeg and their father remarried an Elizabeth Gillies. The family then moved to Chicago. There was another brother born from William's 2nd marriage to Elizabeth Gillies. Clifford Speare. I have been able to find the family in the 1930 Census William SPEARE, age 41, born England, both parents born England. He is a bricklayer at a construction company. Wife, Elizabeth is age 38. Place of birth is indiscernible. It says either Kentucky or Manitoba!, both parents born Scotland. Elizabeth, age 17, born Canada, Archie McCOLL, age 16, a step son of William. William SPEARE, age 14, Clifford, age 9. In the mid 1930s Elizabeth apparently married a Charles B Mitchell and went to live in Denver. They could have been married in Illinois, Colorado or a neighbouring state. This is the last time she was seen. During the 2nd World War Clifford Speare served in the US Forces and was a POW and listed as Missing in Action for a while. William (Bill) was in the Canadian Forces and was injured in France but returned home. If Betty had tried to find her brothers at that point she might have thought the available information might not have been good news. It is possible that Elizabeth (Betty) could have been in California briefly. Her brother Clifford went to Denver to try and find her in the 50s and found Charles Mitchell and her child but was told Elizabeth (Betty) had gone off but was still seen in the area looking over her child. The Contact address I have for Charles is. Charles B. Mitchell Insurance Adjuster 858 Gas and Electric Building Denver 2, Colorado I would really love to track down what happened to Elizabeth, her husband & Child. And am stuck at the moment and was wondering if you could help. Kind Regards Thomas Peeke www.speare.info Ps I am in contact with all the other branches of the family and none of them have any idea what happened to Elizabeth (Betty). I have a copy of her birth certificate and photos of her when she was younger. And address's where the family lived in Winnipeg. -- Thomas Peeke

    1. [GenWisc] Clark County "unknown" photos
    2. I have acquired 3 photo postcards that were given to Gertha AWE of Greenwood (Clark Cty) previous to 1925 when Gertha moved to Calif (she married John STOWELL and died in 1992 at age 95). I'd appreciate any help to locate descendants of those in the photos so these treasures can be returned (all predate 1925). 1. LILLIAN SIMONS of Owen. Young woman in white dress and large hat standing next to a plain wooden chair. SIMONS is likely her maiden name. 2. META MILLER. Young girl in white dress holding hand of toddler, standing outside in front of small tree. MILLER is likely her maiden name. Photographer: Walter L. Hake of Curtiss. 3. LOTTIE. Two young women in nurses uniforms. No surnames given. Please respond to me directly at [email protected] and I'd be glad to e-mail the photos for review. I'd love to return these treasures. Thanks! Carol AWE from Waukegan IL

    1. [GenWisc] ..Silas Dean LEWIS, b1923 MA .. disappeared ~1948 ..
    2. BBFFRRPP
    3. Hello, I have just joined these Lists to ask if anyone knows anything about a .. Silas Dean LEWIS (Jr.), who was born in Massachusetts in June 1923. "Dean" was my father's only brother, and around 1948, he abandoned his wife and baby and "left the state." No one ever heard from him again. Their younger step-brother believes that "Dean" ..ran away.. to the area around the Great Lakes, but it was just a hunch. Two years ago, because of the SSDI records, I found out that he died while living in or visiting .. Phoenix, AZ, in 1996. This means that we don't know how and where my uncle lived .. for almost 50 years. I was just wondering if anyone has ever come across this name. Thank you for your time. 2. Hamilton
    3. Hi This is my first time on an American mailing list so I hope it works the same way as others. I am trying to find out more about Harold Otto HEYN b 12 Apr 1905, d Sep 1976. Specifically I want to know who he married. I know that he predeceased his wife but that is all. Any suggestions other than buying a death certificate would be most welcome. Many thanks Elaine Brisbane, Australia
