    1. [GenWisc] Swedes in Milwaukee?
    2. Dear Wisconsin List, Is there an area of Milwaukee that was popular with Swedish immigrants? I am researching my husband's Swedish ancestors who immigrated to America (Milwaukee) in the 1880s. Unfortunately, the name was ANDERSON - so common! Thank you for your suggestions. Sincerely, Katherine

    3. Hi there! The website is down where I access my index to the 1910 census. I will keep trying. I am hoping it is because they are adding indexes. They do have all the years up but only a few are indexed and 1910 is one of them. I will get back to you if I find anything. 1. [GenWisc] Almira SCOTT ~MY brickwall...
    2. Sandy
    3. Hello, Here goes one of my biggest brickwalls Almira V. SCOTT is my G-G-Grandmother, she was born circa 1840 in New York, probably Bridgewater, New York. I first thought Catherine Sarah BLANCHARD nee FULLER was my G-G-Grandmother, however, turns out my G-G-Grandfather,Isaac Newton JEFFERS b July 1835, Watertown, Jefferson County, NY was married twice. The first I find her was from a funeral record of my G-grandfather, Newton I. JEFFERS, shows his mother's maiden name as Almira SCOTT, informant William JEFFERS [His brother]. Almira and Isaac must have married sometime before 1860, according to Beloit, Rock Co., WI census for that year, they were not married within the census year. To them two boys that I know of were born William W. JEFFERS born Oct 1865 probably in Wisconsin and Newton Isaac JEFFERS b. 14 Jul 1867 Cedar Rapids, Linn Co., Iowa and died LeMars, Plymouth County, IA 18 Apr 1907. Almira is my brickwall, I cannot find a marriage for her. Isaac must have left Almira and took William, with him because in 1870, I find Almira and Newton with Horace M. SCOTT in Dane County, WI. I cannot find Isaac anywhere the only possibility is an Isaac JEFFRIS 34 b. OH living with a Jennie JEFFRIS b. NY Francis Male 7 b. WI William JEFFERS 6 b. IA, I doubt it is the right Isaac, as Will would have been 5, but we all know how census records aren't exactly accurate. Anyhow I cannot figure out if Horace is her father or grandfather, he was born circa 1798, New York. I do find him 1840 Bridgewater, Oneida County, NY with a female under 5 and a But the fact that he also has a 19 yr old son in 1840 and it lists 1 Male 15-20 yrs old makes me think Almira is his daughter as the ages of some of the children matches up to this: 1870 Oregon Township, Dane County, WI 19 Aug 1870 SCOTT Horace M. 72 M W At Home NY SCOTT Edmund E. 49 M W $3000 Estate $560 Personal Assets Farmer NY SCOTT John H. 33 M W Farmer NY SCOTT Alice 15 F W Keeps House INDIANA JEFFERS Almira 30 F W Keeps House NY JEFFERS Newton 3 M W At Home IA Since 1870 still didn't list relationships I cannot figure out how this SCOTT family is related. Everyone on this 1870 dissappears after this except for Newton, he is with Isaac and Catherine in Johnson Tws. Plymouth Co., Iowa...1880 census oh and William is with Isaac too. John and Alice SCOTT are in Beloit, Rock Co., WI 1880, they have one child, Edward, he dissappears too. John H. remarries to Marie M. and they have 2 Children, John N. and Harry H. SCOTT. Marie died by 1920 and John H. SCOTT is widowed. I wish I could find out something more about Horace and Almira, Horace was a physician in 1860 here is what I have for 1860 1860 Beloit, Rock County, WI 24 July 1860 JEFFERS Isaac N. 25 M W Stone Mason b. NY (These JEFFERS are my G-G-grandparents JEFFERS Almira V. 20 F W Keeps House b. NY and her maiden name was SCOTT.) SCOTT Horace M. 62 M W Physician Any clues?? ~*~*~*~ Thanks, Sandy http://www.geocities.com/scarletgen/index.html Grant County, WI Biographies~Part of Wisconsin Biographies ~ County Coordinator My Genealogy Homepages: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~scarletgen/index.html Scarletgen's Elusive SCOTT Family http://www.rootssearch.net/mygensite/sscarletgen/ Searching for the Ancestry of John ATTEBERRY __________________________________________________________________ The NEW Netscape 7.0 browser is now available.
