I am forwarding the following information from Deep South Roots list: I've communicated with Sandi Gorin many times through the past few years and she has been very active in genealogy. I've now learned that she has some serious medical problems. Below are two messages I've received. Hello Cousins; We have a very good genealogy friend in need of our help. Please read the rest of this message. Sandi Goran has helped ALL of us. If you haven't talked to her directly, you have had the benefit of her work, even though you may not realize it. She has contributed as much to genealogy on-line as anyone there is. Sandi is a single Mom, living in KY. She has two daughters and an ageing Mother. That's about it. Her daughters are 2 of the most wonderful young people I have ever known. Her only income is the little she makes through the sale of some of her own copywrited genealogy books. She won't be able to get back to that for several weeks. She has not asked for our help, except in prayer, but she needs us in other ways also. She has a small insurance policy with a $2000 deductable. Then the insurance pays 80 percent of a very limited list of things. The Dr. had to call a board meeting with the insurance company just to get her MRI paid for today.....and it isn't going to pay ALL of it. She has already accumulated thousands of dollars worth of medical bills that she has no idea how she will pay. Recently she has undergone removal of a dangerous cyst on her arm, and had hospital treatment for a kidney problem. She has no savings and no rich relatives. She really needs us right now. This is a very scary thing she is about to go through. She has a large mass either on her ovaries or uterus. She will undergo exploratory surgery on Friday. That should not be compunded with worries over money. I am letting you know that I am working today to set up a bank account, hopefully at a bank near Sandi's home. This will be a fund to help Sandi with hospital and Dr. bills and living expenses. I will get back to you asap with the details, but PLEASE, cousins, lets all pitch in and do what we can. If you can send alot, please do so, if you can only send a little, please do so. I will be putting a page up on the CRR website, to keep you informed of everything happening in the process. As I said, I will be back later with the details on how you can help Sandi financially. In the meantime, please remember her in your prayers, as she would all of us.
