    3. Howdy folks! Awhile back I posted info about my gg-grandfather, Pinkney Burton Gentry. He was born in Monroe County TN in March1843. Someone sent me e-mail about another Pinkney Gentry who married Rebecca Kimbrough. It wasn't MY Pinkney, so I didn't follow up. Well, silly me. First rule? In genealogy, ALWAYS pay attention to even the smallest of clues <grin>. I have found that the "other" Pinkney was James Pinkney Gentry, the son of Pleasent M. Gentry, who was "my" Pinkney's much older half-brother. James Pinkney was less than a year older than Pinkney Burton, but was his half-uncle. I think (haven't proven it yet!) that Pinkney went to live with Pleasent and his family after his parents (Allen D. Gentry and Susan Ivey) died, leaving him an orphan at 9. In the 1860 Monroe County census, there are two Pinkneys of the same age living in Pleasent's household. Who woulda thunk there could be TWO Pinkney Gentrys? Now to the POINT of this e-mail-WHO sent me the note about the Pinkney who married Rebecca Kimbrough? Are you on the Gentry list, I hope? Thanks for your patience. Meg Gentry Bookout
