It's possible that I may be kin to you. My 2x grand grandfather John. J. Beard was married to Sarah W. Gentry. He was from NC and she was orig. from SC. His brother Oran Blufford Beard was married to her cousin, Sarah E. "Callie" Gentry. One of John J.'s son, William Wilson Beard was married to Callie's sister, Gilly Ann Gentry. They all left GA in mid 1870's and settled at Lytton Springs in Caldwell Co. and Garfield in Bastrop Co. (later was changed to Travis Co.) many of them are buried at Haynies Chapel Cemetery in Garfield. Another one of John J.'s sons was, John Hezekiah Beard. He was named after his gr. grandfather Hezekiah Gentry. Does any of this ring a bell. Shirley of Corpus Christi, Tx. -----Original Message----- From: Mary A. Sure sounds like there is a connection. Can you send a descendancy chart from Hezekiah. I have always thought that was the connection, but could not proove it. The Beard name is not familiar, but I need a birthdate and data for Callie and Gilly Ann as my Andrew/Aaron Jones who supposedly m. two Gentry sisters: Ellen Elizabeth and ?. Had a daughter he named Gilly Ann. Just too much coincidence. Very anxious to hear from you. If you think it will be worth it, I could call you. Please include your address and phone in your next note. Also any family stories you may have heard. I just checked the 1880 census and the families of the Gentry's and Beards are about five houses apart. I am very excited. Please write back soon. I have always thought they might be related to Hezekiah. My phone # is (250) (499-2065 ext. 117). We live in an RV park, so you must put in the extension to transfer from the office to our fifth wheel. We have been to Corpus Christie and hope to get back to TX either this year (winter) or next.
