The Handbook of Texas published 1952 by the Texas State Historical Assn., in vol. 1, page 679 says this about Gentry Creek: Gentry Creek rises in northern Kimble county and flows to the south approximately 20 miles to join the Llano River about 4 miles east of the town of Junction. The stream was named for Raleigh Gentry, who settled in the area in the 1850's.
