I'm new in subscribing to these family lists and I don't understand what this means. Do we have to pay a fee for each name we are researching wthru My Family? Does that mean that if I am researching 5 names I will need to pay 5 fees? Will Norma still be taking care of the Gentry list? Hi, I should have explained what was going on for the new subscribers. Sorry about that. MyFamily is separate from Rootsweb. There is no charge for anything on Rootsweb. The My Family Site, offered free web pages for about 4 or 5 years. They were private sites, accessable only through and invitation from the owner or administrator. MyFamily is now doing away with any free web pages. The price they mention is a one time $9.95 for the first year. This was to be paid only one time by the list owner/administrator, or whoever else was willing to pay it. You would not be charged for each name you wanted to search on MyFamily, but you would have to get an invitation from the listowner to be able to access it. There is no charge for any member. I had a Gentry Family site on MyFamily that I will take down since there isn't much there anyway. The Gentry-L mail list will continue with me as list administrator. There is no charge for anything.
