Elizabeth GENTRY (a lady of English descent) They settled in Albemarle Co., VA, near Charlottesville. Members of the Baptist Church. In 1788 Nathaniel HAGGARD, with his family, removed to Clark Co., KY, and settled between Winchester and Boonsboroough, then a wilderness. He bought land 2 miles s. of Winchester, and he and his wife, Elizabeth, lived the remainer of their days in the enjoyment of the society of their children who had settled near them. issue: I. Edmund HAGGARD, b. about 1725, m. Lady of Welsh decent named RICE. 7 sons and 2 daughters. Last years of his life, he came to KY, and settled on Otter Creek, in Madison Co., a few miles south of Boonsborough, where he died at a ripe old age. issue: I. Settled in Tazewell Co., NC, from ther moved to KY and settled in Garrard Co., near Lancaster, in 1794, served 3 campaigns in Rev. war. Recieved pension last 20 yeaars of his life. He was a preacher, a teacher of schools, and a miller. He had 5 sons and 3 daughters. (a) John HAGGARD, b. 1783, m. ? KINDRED, and in an early day moved to IN. No further record of this family. (b) William b. 05 Apr. 1785, m. 12 Jan. 1809, Polly GENTRY. he was a Baptist minister, but in 1832 joined the reformation and became a Disciple preacher. (c2) Sally HAGGARD, b. 08 Jun, 1811, d. 16 Oct, 1833. (c3) Martin HAGGARD, b. 03 Apr, 1813, d. 21 Nov, 1879, Dubuque, IA. His wife and only daughter, issue: Mrs. Lambert, resides in Dubuque, IA. (c4) William HAGGARD, b. 25 May, 1815, He resided on Turkey River in Clayton Co, IA, Post office Millville. He has several children. issue: Freeman HAGGARD (c5) Thomas Bellow Haggard, (4th son) b. 28 Feb, 1819. in Madison Co, KY. m. 01 Feb, 1838, Lucy TURPIN, of Muddy Creek, Madison Co, KY. In 1842 he visited IA and settled not far from Dubuque, and in after years removed to Goodhugh Co, MN, near Fair Point. Enlisted in 3rd MN Battery of light artillery, was Corporal, and acted as sergeant. Hon. discharged 27 Feb, 1866. Present P.O. is Excelsior, MN. issue: Elizabeth HAGGARD, b. 10 Nov, 1838, d. before war. 27 Aug, 1857 to John A, HART, he was killed in the Union army. Sumria HAGGARD, b. 03 May 1843, m. 08 Apr 1860 to A.C. WOODBURY. P.O. Darlington, WS. Henry HAGGARD, b. 12 Aug, 1846, m. 29 Jul, 1860 to Lucy A. SAMMER. Enlisted in 3rd regiment MN battery of light artillery, and on 27 Feb, 1866, received hon. disch. P.O. Elcelsior, MN. Mary F. HAGGARD, b. 15 Apr, 1853, m. 21 Sep, 1879, to Richard HOAGLAND. P.O. Brook Parke, MN. William HAGGARD, b. 15 Apr, 1853. P.O. Fair Point, MN. He is single. Winifred Jane HAGGARD, b. 18 Apr, 1828, d. young.
