I'll try sending this to Mitzie also, but thought I would try to clarify a point mentioned in her e-mail. She has Susan D. Gentry as the daughter of Allen and Nancy Gentry. I believe this is incorrect. I think that this Susan D. Gentry was the daughter of Abednigo Francis Gentry and Frances Ramsey. Abednigo and Frances lived in Person County NC, whereas Allen and Nancy lived in NC, but moved early in the 1800s to Monroe County TN. Abednigo Francis Gentry was the 1st cousin of Allen D. Gentry (who is my 3rd g-grandfather). To the best of my knowledge, Allen D. Gentry did not have a daughter named Susan D. Gentry. However, I am VERY open to just about ANYTHING on this line-Allen D. Gentry was, um, how shall I put it? An INTERESTING man (grin) He married Nancy Gentry, his 1st cousin. They had at least 9 children together, then he "took up" with Susan Ivey, and they had at least 4 children (including my g-grandfather Pinkney Burton Gentry) with Susan while still married to Nancy, whom he had kicked out of the main house and moved his other family in next door (an interesting find in the 1850 Monroe County TN census!) When he died in 1853, NEITHER wife would pay to have him buried, so the state of TN did eventually. Anyway, I don't think that Allen and Nancy were Susan D. Gentry's parents.
