    3. Hi Deryl! I am a direct descendant of Simon Gentry. I have the same information as you about his movements from NC to TN to Monroe Co KY. I believe that Simon's wife's name was Catherine? They are shown together as members of the Mill Creek (Old Mulkey) Baptist Church as members in May 1832 (from the Monroe Co Website). I show that Simon had 3 children: Boone (no info at all on him), Richard b abt 1798 and daughter Rhody b after 1790. I am descended from Rhody Gentry. She married Lewis Wheeler March 1813 in Greene Co TN and about the mid 1830's Lewis moved the family to Monroe Co KY. Rhody died bef 1850 (from MC tax lists) and Lewis died abt 1869 in MC. Known children: Catherine (Katie) Wheeler b abt 1814 Greene Co TN James b abt 1816 " Margaret b abt 1818 " Mary b abt 1823 " Simon b abt 1825 " Isaac b abt 1829 " Rhoda b abt 1829 " Richard D b 1837 Monroe Co (my line) Arena b abt Dec 1844 " My cousin and I have done a lot of research on Lewis and his family and we have a theory that Isaac and Rhoda Wheeler (both b 1829) may not necessarily be brother and sister but possibly husband and wife (from census info). For quite some time, we also believed that Arena was a daughter of James Wheeler, but I eventually found her death record and her father is listed as Lewis Wheeler. The particular line of my Wheelers followed the Scottish naming pattern quite closely. The 2 older daughters were named for their grandmothers, 2 sons were named for their grandfathers and I believe that Richard Wheeler (my ggrandfather) was named for his uncle Richard Gentry. Isaac Wheeler was probably named for his uncle, Isaac Wheeler, a brother to Lewis Wheeler. James Wheeler also named one of his sons Lewis Wheeler. I haven't done a whole lot of research as yet into Simon and his direct line. And I haven't yet verified that this man Boone Gentry is definitely a son to Simon Gentry. I have been watching and reading the Gentry Journal website quite closely and have picked up bits and pieces of info, but the author hasn't yet arrived at the "stories" of my line of Gentry's. I'm looking forward to that when it comes!! I look forward to hearing from you - what is your line? Are you directly descended from Richard Gentry? regards, Colleen Lill Canada Simon b. abt. 1769 - NC(son of Richard b. abt. 1732 - VA) went from NC to TN where he lived for some time before going on to Monroe Co.
