    1. [Gentry] Passing along request about John Gentry from a non-list member
    2. I received the following inquiry from Ruth Denson and told her I would pass the message along since I don't have much info on the particular line. The Betsy who married John Gentry should be Elizabeth Moody if the information I have is correct. Send any information you want to share directly to her at: rvdenson@juno.com . I am also interested in any information on this line and you can reach me at: Shena9881@aol.com. Shena Message from Ruth Denson rvdenson@juno.com: John Gentry b. Abt. 1773 & wife Betsy b. bat 1777 are my ancestors. Moody Gentry was brother of my ancestor and son of John & Betsy. My 1st source for info is the manuscript of Ephriam Malone Johnson. Ephriam's mother was the sister of the father-in-law of Winnie and Martha/Patsy. Moody Gentry married Ephriam's sister. I had already found John Gentry's will but wife Elizabeth and a lady named Elizabeth Ellen Wood who was to receive bed and furniture are the only names mentioned. I found a sale bill for the personal property of John Gentry dated 4-27-1850. Moody's name was on it along with 5 other men none of whom I recognize. I am a 6th generation descendant of Winnie & Robert Stell. I know where Winnie and Robert are buried but Winnie has no headstone and a large rock with some info is Robert's headstone. I do hope you are able to fill me in on sources or some info to help me find the other children of John & Elizabeth/Betsy. One Bartley Gentry married Ibby Willbanks. On the Gentry forum site Bartley is listed as the brother of John. I have done some work on Willbanks as they are connected to Stells but just recently noticed the connection of Bartley and John. I wish I had the source for listing of John & his siblings. Pamela Geisler Smith is the person who submitted info concerning Bartley. Do you know what's happened to Ron Burdette? 3. Hi Shena, You're going to have to redo your info on Callie Gentry. <G> After looking through the census CD on Tn, and not finding any female Gentry named Callie, I looked on the 1900 census on Genealogy.com. I found her in 1900 in Clinton Co., Missouri, Atchison Twp., along with Charles Boy. The 1900 census has her listed as being born in Kentucky! 3. I'll try sending this to Mitzie also, but thought I would try to clarify a point mentioned in her e-mail. She has Susan D. Gentry as the daughter of Allen and Nancy Gentry. I believe this is incorrect. I think that this Susan D. Gentry was the daughter of Abednigo Francis Gentry and Frances Ramsey. Abednigo and Frances lived in Person County NC, whereas Allen and Nancy lived in NC, but moved early in the 1800s to Monroe County TN. Abednigo Francis Gentry was the 1st cousin of Allen D. Gentry (who is my 3rd g-grandfather). To the best of my knowledge, Allen D. Gentry did not have a daughter named Susan D. Gentry. However, I am VERY open to just about ANYTHING on this line-Allen D. Gentry was, um, how shall I put it? An INTERESTING man (grin) He married Nancy Gentry, his 1st cousin. They had at least 9 children together, then he "took up" with Susan Ivey, and they had at least 4 children (including my g-grandfather Pinkney Burton Gentry) with Susan while still married to Nancy, whom he had kicked out of the main house and moved his other family in next door (an interesting find in the 1850 Monroe County TN census!) When he died in 1853, NEITHER wife would pay to have him buried, so the state of TN did eventually. Anyway, I don't think that Allen and Nancy were Susan D. Gentry's parents.
