    2. Bill Gentry
    3. While your general outline is good, may I point out several points: 1. There is no evidence that Nicholas was the son of Samuel Gentry and Margaret Drapet. 2. There is no evidence that Nicholas married Lucy Cornelius. 3. Samuel had no middle initial, and his wife's name was spelled "Ann", not "Anne". Ann's maiden name is only reasonable conjecture and has never been established. 4. Allen had no middle initial and all we know of his wife is that her name was Mary. There is absolutely no evidence of her maiden name. 5. Information about Allen and his children is summarized in the current issue of the Journal of Gentry Genealogy, at http://www.gentryjournal.org . Information about the descendants of Shadrack can be found in the records of Person Co., NC where they all lived. Obituaries, marriage records, and the like would all be located there. "Bedney" was almost certainly a contraction of his full name "Abednego". At 03:11 AM 9/26/02 -0600, you wrote: >Found a Gentry in with my maternal Ramsey's...I did trace him back to >Samuel Gentry b 1627 m Margaret Draper >Nicholas Gentry b 1665 m Lucy Cornelius >Samuel B Gentry b 1695 m Anne Allen >Allen A Gentry b 1725 m Mary Miller >Shadrack Gentry m Susan Davis >Allen M Gentry m Harriett Jones >Benjamin Moses Gentry m Mary Oakley >Bedney Thomas Gentry m Virginia Elizabeth Ramsey b 1871 ****** > >I have info on Samuel b 1627 down to Allen b 1725 >but have no info on Mary Miller down to Benj M Gentry/Oakley > >if anyone has info willing to share would appreciate it, thank you. > > > > > > >_________________________________________________________________ >MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: >http://photos.msn.com/support/worldwide.aspx

    3. I am trying to figure out what line Harold Clifton Gentry is from. His wife is Dorothy and she is abt 80y now. She wrote a book on my gggg grandfather in 1992...she said she is no kin to our William Smeathers..but am curious who her Gentry's are. I cant talk to her bec she is in a 'rest home' and a friend went to visit, but she does not have the memory like she use too. Sad. I dont have much to go on here, thats for sure, but they do live in Hartford Ky. I wish I knew and why she wrote this book on someone she was not kin too. It has abt 250 pgs and really is fairly accurate except she leaves out a wife and some kids...?? A lot of it is totally quoted fr some old writings done by Thomas McCreery in 1866 & was printed in the Owensboro Monitor then which I do have copies of. Its in a 15 part series. She has a pretty good timeline which McCreery did not and she has Bill's will and obit and pictures of all 4 Historical markers for him, 2 in Ky and 2 in Tx. But nothing abt her Gentry line. If anyone has a clue, would appreciate some assistance, thanks a lot, Nena My gggg grandfather William Smeathers http://www.tamu.edu/ccbn/dewitt/smothers.htm Brazoria Co Hist Museum-Wm Smeathers Will/Obit http://www.bchm.org/Austin/panel14.html Migrations of Wm Smeathers http://www.migrations.org/individual.php3?record=21943 _________________________________________________________________ MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: http://photos.msn.com/support/worldwide.aspx

    1. [Gentry] Mollie Gentry marriage 1876 - Monroe Co KY
    2. Colleen Lill
    3. I have come across a marriage record of Molly Gentry to Thomas Wheeler, on March 19 1876 in Monroe Co KY. I have Thomas Wheeler in my database and in the 1880 census for Monroe Co, the wife's name is shown as Mary, born abt 1860. The birth dates match for Mary and Mollie. I know that Mollie is sometimes a nickname for Mary. Does anyone have any idea as to the parents of Mollie Gentry? I know there were several Gentry families in Monroe Co at the time. Thanks for the help. Colleen Lill Canada I used to have a life, then I started doing genealogy.

    3. FYI-found in Manuscript Collection 708 Univ of Arkansas Gentry Store Day Ledgers>General store day books, 1928-1937 a.. Information about the Gentry Store b.. Information about the Collection c.. Contents of the Collection INFORMATION ABOUT THE GENTRY STORE-Gentry Arkansas The ledgers were found by Mrs. Serritslev in the Elberta Hotel, Gentry, shortly before the hotel was demolished in 1982. Although there is no identification on the day ledgers, they are most likely the records of the general store, furniture store, and undertaking establishment of Ray and Roy Carpenter. The Carpenter brothers, Ray and Roy, took over the retail grocery of their father, I. W. Carpenter, in 1909. They built up the grocery business, added a furniture line, and in 1929 moved into a new building. INFORMATION ABOUT THE COLLECTION Day books from an unidentified general store in Gentry, Arkansas, were donated to Special Collections by Mrs. Paul Serritslev, Yountville, California, through David Haberstich, National Museum of American History, Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D. C., in March, 1985. The day books originally had paper clips and pins placed to mark pages or to attach tapes from an adding machine showing totals of the entries from each page or each division. For better preservation of the day books, the adding machine tapes were removed to folder 6, and marked to indicate the volume and page number where they were originally attached. The marks are enclosed in brackets; the first number is the volume number, the second the page number (e.g., [4-36] means volume 4, page 36). Prepared by Nan Lawler, Special Collections Division, University of Arkansas Libraries, Fayetteville, Arkansas, in August 1987. CONTENTS OF THE COLLECTION (5 volumes) Box 1 1. Day book, 1928. 2. Virginia Flesher
    3. Oscar ROBERTSON was the second husband to Matilda R COMPTON, dau of Col. William W COMPTON and if not Ruth, perhaps an earlier wife of William W COMPTON. In Deed Book F, page 426, dated Nov. 1, 1848, there is recorded a DEED OF GIFT from William W. and Ruth C. Compton of Carroll Co., Mo. to George W. Gentry and Matilda R., his wife, "of Chariton Co., Mo" 40 acres in Section 26 of township 55/22. They made a second deed to him of 80 acres in 1850, but for $100. Although the relationship is not spelled out, the fact that it is a gift and that George W.'s wife is spelled out, makes it quite clear in view of the above. George GENTRY and Matilda R. COMPTON had four known GENTRY children, Delila F., b c1839 MO Susan A., b c1846, MO George Ann, b c1849,MO, (m Jacob LATHAM 07 Feb 1867, Carroll Co MO) John W., b 1853 MO, who is my ancestor, m Micah Elvira COOPER, dau of Micah Elvira GENTRY and Alfred T COOPER of Carroll Co MO. Micah Elvira GENTRY's parents were Julia SIMPSON and Robert GENTRY, making Micah Elvira COOPER a GENTRY descendant. George W GENTRY was son of Benjah Brooks GENTRY, b. 22 May, 1786, and his second wife, Rachel PHILLIPS, m. 19 Apr, 1809.
