Good Morning! Is everyone still hibernating or what? <G> It's just tooo quiet on the lists. So, I thought I'd check in and see if everyone was still there. I haven't done much lately because of my husband's health problem, but he's doing just fine now. Have a nice Sunday! Good Morning, Below are pertinent portions of a message sent to list administrators by Rootsweb. Please keep this in mind as the week progresses. Any politacal posting will be dealt with by immediate unsubbing from the lists. Thanks, Norma Subject: [LO] [Important info] Keeping lists to genealogical topics, not political matters ===8<==============Original message text=============== Hi List admins, It is [a] period of intense political times when emotions and opinions will run high in many directions. The simple issue is that RootsWeb is for genealogical research and not for political discussions. Equivalent political situations have been known to cause significant disturbances and needed intervention by admins and occasionally by staff. RootsWeb asks all admins to reinforce where necessary to their subscribers the basis of the mailing lists and their provision by RootsWeb to users, and, where necessary, take reasonable actions to maintain the focus of mailing lists. Please be firm but nice. Good luck, we will all need it. RootsWeb cannot and will not be supportive of list administrators who encourage political discussions on mailing lists. from - Middletown, Ohio Family Page: http://www.angelfire.com/oh/myfamilygenes Gentry Records Page: http://members.tripod.com/~nanny_4/index.html
The info comes from a Cherokee name "Iron Head" and his e-mail is Atillathehun666@yahoo.com. >>I am a blood cousin to Sandy Skofield where you have been sending a lot of info on the Rogers/Gentry families. I am a Cherokee researcher and have a full history on the the Gentry and Rogers families. What you say is true, "The History of the Cherokee Indians" documents that Tiana Rogers was married to David Gentry and later to Sam Houston. The book has this data under The Old Family GRANT: Tiana Rogers ~1803 GRA-1.1.2.1.4 David Gentry Samuel Houston They had: Gabreil Gentry ~1825 GRA-1.1.2.1.4.1 Joanna Gentry ~1826 GRA-1.1.2.1.4.2 This shows that Tiana Rogers was the 5th generation of the Grant family (4th child of GRA-1.1.2.1), and that she and David had two daughters recorded. Dates are rough estimates, based on their descent from Ludovic Grant, the founder of the family. Tiana's family tree goes like this: Jennie Due, b~1766 GRA-1.1.2.1 ? Rogers Elizabeth Emory b~1748 GRA-1.1.2 Robert Due (b~1740) Mary Grant b~1727 GRA-1.1 William Emory (b~1720 England) Ludovic Grant b 1698 GRA-1 Elizabeth Tassell (b 1706)Longhair Clan I have several other Gentry's in my database (not including the Final Dawes Rolls): GRA is the GRANT family FOR is the FOREMAN family The proginiter of the Gentry's in the Foreman family was: Margaret (Maggie) Taylor b 1873 FOR-1.5.10.1.2.1.1 and William Gentry (b 1871) Dawes Roll #24159. His parents were: W T Gentry & Nancy. Since this Gentry was registered on the Dawes, all of his descendants are eligible for membership in the Cherokee Nation West. Annie Gentry 1910 FOR-1.5.10.1.2.1.1.7 Blanche Gentry 1896 FOR-1.5.10.1.2.1.1.2 Christopher Gentry 1897 FOR-1.5.10.1.2.1.1.3 Elizabeth Gentry ~1808 GRA-1.1.2.2.1 Gabreil Gentry ~1825 GRA-1.1.2.1.4.1 Hearst Gentry 1898 FOR-1.5.10.1.2.1.1.5 Isabel Gentry ~1809 GRA-1.1.2.2.2 Joanna Gentry ~1826 GRA-1.1.2.1.4.2 Juna Gentry 1916 FOR-1.5.10.1.2.1.1.9 Patience Gentry ~1810 GRA-1.1.2.2.3 Ralph Gentry 1893 FOR-1.5.10.1.2.1.1.1 Ruth Gentry 1912 FOR-1.5.10.1.2.1.1.8 William Gentry Jr 1908 FOR-1.5.10.1.2.1.1.6 Winnie Gentry 1902 FOR-1.5.10.1.2.1.1.4 If you would like more info on any of these, please drop me a line.
