Waving from the desert of Southern California! <HI to all my Gentry cuzzins> Still trying to find my TN Gentry kin-the ones descended from that ol'rascule Allen D. Gentry, my 3rd great granpaw. Allen D. was married to his 1st cousin Nancy Gentry, and after she had at least 9 kids with him, he "took up" with Susan Ivey, moved Nancy to the house next door, and had at least 4 kids with Susan before divorcing Nancy and marrying Susan (the week after their last child was born, in May 1848). My gg-granpaw Pinkney Burton Gentry was the child of Allen and Susan. When ol' Allen D. died in 1853, NEITHER wife would pay to have him buried, so the state of TN finally did. He is buried in Monroe County TN, next to Nancy, Susan's whereabouts unknown (at least to me!) Anyway, howdy to y'all! Meg Gentry Bookout

Hi, I'm still trying to make a connection between my MILES ancestors and the GENTRY line that was in Shelby County, Alabama in 1830 and 1840. They went to Tishomingo County, Mississippi. Allen Cain GENTRY who was born about 1788 in South Carolina, died on November 10, 1842, Carrolville, Tishimingo County, MS. He married Rebecca MOTES. On the 1840 Shelby County, Alabama Census, Allen Cain and his son Drury as listed as living beside my ances Simeon MILES. By 1842 they are all in Tishomingo County, MS where in 1844 Aaron DUN/DEEN (record hard to read) sues Drury JENTRY, SIMEON MILES and Rebecca JENTRY. There is only a court record of the filing of the suit. Old Tishomingo records have been vandalized and are in great disarray so my cousin who visited the place where the records are kept could only find this record.
