    1. [Gentry] Some Gentry Males in Surry Co., NC
    2. Dear Researchers, I cut and pasted this from the Surry Co NC rootsweb. I checked out the 1790 tax list and found a number of Gentry males. Probably some cousins by other names are lurking there also. E.W.Wallace Hi folks For those that might be interested, just got up a transcript of the 1790 Surry Co., NC Tax List (not census) on my web site.  http://www.ls.net/~newriver/nrv.htm (Click on Surry on the map) Also got the Wilkes County, NC page reorganized to make better sense (I hope). Also have an expanded version of the William Rhudy Cemetery in Grayson Co. and a new listing for the Bartlett Cemetery in Grayson Co., VA. I am not on the Surry Co., NC list, if someone who reads this, please forward it, they might be interested.  Thanks. Warm regards Jeff Weaver PO Box 351 Saltville, Smyth County, VA http://www.ls.net/~newriver/nrv.htm - New River Notes http://members.aol.com/jweaver300/grayson/vacwhp.htm - Virginia Civil War Home Page

I do know she was in Edgecombe but prob. abt. the time of her marriage. This has been a very frustrating family to research for me. I have decided to go all the way back and review all my old paper files and see if I can find anything new or something I have missed. Good hunting to you. She married Solomon 6/12/1812 in SC. Solomon was in the War of 1812 and Mitta filed for a widow's pension. She had no copy of a marriage license so her marriage was proved by affadavits of people who had known Mitta and Solomon in SC. I have a copy of the NARA file which includes a copy of the family bible. Solomon and Mitta came to Illinois around 1832 with the Riley and Gregg families and settled in Gallatin Co. Suzanne Liva

I will try to look further and see if I can find you another one that might be what you are looking for. I have so many sheets of paper around here that I don't know how to correlate.
