    3. The Handbook of Texas published 1952 by the Texas State Historical Assn., in vol. 1, page 679 says this about Gentry Creek: Gentry Creek rises in northern Kimble county and flows to the south approximately 20 miles to join the Llano River about 4 miles east of the town of Junction. The stream was named for Raleigh Gentry, who settled in the area in the 1850's. 3. Hi Cousins, I've been noticing, and a subscriber on the digest mode brought it to my attention also, that the digests are getting rather long. The Digest Mode is where a person gets all the posts in one email, for those that are new. So, I'm asking you that when you reply to a posted message, to only include the pertinent information to which you are replying. Some messages get replied to several times and it can get really long. I know that some email programs do not let you remove extra stuff that may be there, but you can copy and paste to a new email. This helps everyone, especially those with limited mail boxes and the people on digest. Thanks for your cooperation! Have a nice day! 3. My Gentry's are from Salem, Cumberland, & Gloucester Co's, NJ. And, so far, are NOT related to the southern families,(NC,SC,VA etc)or any other Gentry line. I've tried for years to connect to the 1909 book without luck. William & Thomas Gentry of NJ were mentioned, but not connected. I (at this time) think that my (NJ) Gentry's are German not English (also told Scottish???). I read that William (below)had brothers Moses, Ebenezer, 2 others & some sisters. I haven't found anything out about Moses, Ebenezer or the other siblings so I check all leads. As of 11/20/02, Moses Gentry, of Cumberland Co., NJ, Letters of administration granted by Joseph Moore, Surrogate, on 6 Dec 1854, to William Gentry. There is also mention of a Moses Gentry serving in the war of 1812. WILLIAM GENTRY & MARGARET HECTOR were married in Salem Co., NJ, 8 Dec 1803. William c1768-c1855 & Margaret c1780-19 Aug 1856 Bridgeton, Cumberland Co., NJ... 3. Sure sounds like there is a connection. Can you send a descendancy chart from Hezekiah. I have always thought that was the connection, but could not proove it. The Beard name is not familiar, but I need a birthdate and data for Callie and Gilly Ann as my Andrew/Aaron Jones who supposedly m. two Gentry sisters: Ellen Elizabeth and ?. Had a daughter he named Gilly Ann. Just too much coincidence. Very anxious to hear from you. If you think it will be worth it, I could call you. Please include your address and phone in your next note. Also any family stories you may have heard. I just checked the 1880 census and the families of the Gentry's and Beards are about five houses apart. I am very excited. Please write back soon. I have always thought they might be related to Hezekiah. My phone # is (250) (499-2065 ext. 117). We live in an RV park, so you must put in the extension to transfer from the office to our fifth wheel. We have been to Corpus Christie and hope to get back to TX either this year (winter) or next. 3. 4/22/03 I'm here and I have a good site for all to check on Gentrys. You may know of it already but here goes: 1790 Surry Co., NC Tax list-no census. http://www.ls.net/~newriver/nrv.htm (Click on Surry on the map). Be sure to cruise from beginning to end to see all the other very interesting sites to visit. I found several clues to check out for my Roley/Raleigh Gentry b. 1810/13 somewhere back there. Roley settled in Texas which I have info on him there but I need his parents now. He also lived in Georgia for some time to have 6 children, Gilford, Wm., Martha, Mary, Allen, George Gentry between 1831 to 1843.
