    3. Just my opinion on the fee for myfamily.com sites: these are PRIVATE sites for family or invited persons to visit or join......many of us who have them have lots of wonderful contributions on them, I personally dont think is NOT a waste of paying the extra fee to keep the sites. What we have all contributed on others sites as guests too, I compare to having our own little genealogy book of ancestry and well worth the extra fee to keep it going.....esp when you compare to what you have to pay to belong to genealogy.com or ancestry.com.....they are, in my opinion, worth keeping. There really is no where else with the format that myfamily.com offers to have such a wonderful compilation of ancestry info which inc photos, history, files, news, birthdays, anniv..etc......I sure hope that the Gentry folks that have the Tx Gentry site keeps them going. thanks. 3. Phil, this is just a thought that came to mind when reading your query. I wonder if Mary Jane could have been the illegitimate daughter of one of the older Gentry daughters. Maybe they were raising her and thus she was called Gentry even though her father may have had a different name. Of course I'm only guessing. Would the ages of the children fit this supposition? 3. Thanks you everyone, for your replies. It turns out that one of my cousins had already upgraded one of our sites. Only today did I get the POP-UP notices about the required fees for upgrading while visiting my other sites! If it had not been for the alert posted on the GENTRY Rootsweb discussion, I may have never known and would have lost 5 years worth of work! So, again a great big THANKS to you all! 2. I cut this article out of the Knoxville, TN News Sentinel; unfortunately I didn't write the date on it. It was probably within the last two months. "Driver's health may have precipitated fatal wreck" Del Rio, TN - Authorities say a North Carolina man who died in a single vehicle accident in Cocke County Wednesday may have been ill before the crash. Cherrell E. Gentry, 45, of Hot Springs was eastbound on East Highway 25/70 at 5:20 p.m. in a 1990 GMC pickup truck when the accident occured, according to Trooper Jarrett Ramsey of the Tennessee Highway Patrol. Witnesses indicated that Gentry was traveling under the speed limit when he drifted off the roadway and hit a tree head-on, Ramsey said. Family members said Gentry had complained of chest pains earlier on Wednesday. Estelle

    3. (I'm sending this again. My original post has not returned to me so I don't know if anyone got it or not. If you receive this more than once, I apologize. - Norma) Hi, I should have explained what was going on for the new subscribers. Sorry about that. MyFamily is separate from Rootsweb. There is no charge for anything on Rootsweb. The My Family Site, offered free web pages for about 4 or 5 years. They were private sites, accessable only through and invitation from the owner or administrator. MyFamily is now doing away with any free web pages. The price they mention is a one time $9.95 for the first year. This was to be paid only one time by the list owner/administrator, or whoever else was willing to pay it. You would not be charged for each name you wanted to search on MyFamily, but you would have to get an invitation from the listowner to be able to access it. There is no charge for any member. I had a Gentry Family site on MyFamily that I will take down since there isn't much there anyway. The Gentry-L mail list will continue with me as list administrator. There is no charge for anything. 3. For whatever its worth as my opinion on this subject....seems everyone appears to be a bit negative on this issue...but take into consideration that ancestry.com, rootsweb.com, genealogy.com and myfamily.com are all owned as a monopoly now, so something like this should not come as much of a surprise, but compared to the price you pay for all the others not to inc myfamily.com......their price is very reasonable, and I believe worth it if you want to have your own private site for yr family, relatives, desc of yr ancestors, upload pics, put in family trees, have chats and load files and history data...not to mention being able to send pics to others thru the site by cards. I have had a site there since they almost came on line. 3 yrs ago I upgraded to 100k so I would have more room.....this was 20. I did not feel it too exerburant at all considering all the data everyone that is there has contributed over the yrs and over 30-40 members that we do now have on our site. This I believe is the very best BOOK we could ever have on all the information contributed by all the desc of our family. I believe its one of the best ways to have a family be together and share there on line and worth the price. Just my opinion.....MedicineWoman --- Ed Pereira <edp@ci.tracy.ca.us> wrote: Oh, thats real nice. just signed up for that last week and there was nothing on their site about that. 3. Hi, I should have explained what was going on for the new subscribers. Hope this helps, Norma At 02:10 PM 6/14/2003 -0400, you wrote: > I'm new in subscribing to these family lists and I don't understand what >this means. I just really don't understand all this and would appreciate some simplified info. Thank you very much. dickseann dickseann@aol.com

    2. Hi Candy, Couldn't speculate on whether Margaret Gentry is one of our family members. We have family from TN on over to OH/IN/MO/IA/UTAH/CA and who knows where else they may have settled. Regards,
