Hi Emma, Your JAMES may be the son of Benejah even though he is not listed in the will. Frequently children who are in a will have already received their inheritance of land, etc. This goes for dau. as well as sons, especially the older one. Check land records to see what may have been deeded or sold. Thanks Norma it looks like you have gotten the ball rolling...We appreciate that. I got that Bad address thing squared away. The Gentry that I would like the most information about I believe is Aaron Gentry b. abt 1771 (Hanover) Va. m. (1) Polly Ogg, Nov 14, 1801 in (Albemarle) Va. (2) Peggy Ogg, January 10, 1803 in Charlottesville (Albemerle) Va. As best I know he had one son James Overton born abt 1807. What happened after that??? Is there anyone on this mail list that has him in their ancestry line??? I would like to hear from you. Thanks Joe Gentry [email protected]
I am descended from Nicholas II, and his wife, Mary BROOKS. Also descended through Nicholas III, and his wife, Sarah DICKENS. Does anyone know any more about Sarah's ancestry, except that her father was supposed to be John DICKENS? Teresa, I have same Nicholas II, but married to Jane Albert, Austill, or Aubert. I, too, would like some verification of records. I do not know which name is correct for Jane, but I do have her listed as a second marriage, first being to Mary BROOKS. I live very near New Kent County, VA and hope to go there, to do some research, after I return to this country in August. Any more info you have would be deeply appreciated. Thanks. Marianne/VA

So how about if I ask for my 2nd most wanted - proof of the parents of James Gentry, born 15 Oct. 1786 in Albemarle Co., VA; married 4 August 1808; died 15 January 1861 in Monroe Co., KY, I believe. My most wanted is information on James Gentry b. 1780, settled in Spencer County, Indiana. The information I have is that each year he would hire a boat to take farm products down the Mississippi River to New Orleans. Abraham Lincoln was employed as an oarsman on one of the boats in 1829 and had charge of James' sons, Allen and Joseph. I have no other information on this James Gentry and would like any and all info you may have. Thanks, Darrell Gentry

MY MOST WANTED: My mother's uncle, Thomas GENTRY, was last heard of at Mother's father's funeral, in the late 1920s in Jackson Co. AR. Her father was Elbert Marion, both he and Thomas b MO, to John W GENTRY and Mickey Elvira COOPER. She later married George W MILLER, and lived in Craighead Co AR. Thomas had sister's, Nora, Frances, (m. COPPEDGE) and Lillian, (m. BENNETT). She knew he was married at the time, and had several children, and thought at one time, that he was supposed to have lived at El Dorado AR. I inquired there a few years ago, and could find no one who had ever heard of him. I looked in the Social Security Death Index, and found a Thomas GENTRY, born 23 Apr 1884, died Apr 1967 in Dickson, TN. This could be him. I have much to share with his descendants. Hi all you Cousins out there! I talked with Joe Gentry, the list owner, and he tells me we are now 147 strong! Wow! That is unbelievable. The list has been very, very slow lately, and we thought maybe a "Most Wanted Gentry" posting might liven things up. I'll go first. My Most Wanted Gentry is Green/Greenberry Gentry. He was born in Kentucky, and went to Caldwell Co. Missouri in the town of Ludlow. His wife's name was Jane and they had a daughter named Eva. I figure he died probably in the 1930's. He was a brother to my gr-granfather. That is all I know of him. Anyone out there live in Missouri, Caldwell Co.? I really need some help on this one! OK, Guys, IT'S YOUR TURN! That didn't hurt a bit! :) Have a nice evening and let's find some Gentrys! Norma ***************** My Eastern Ky. Family Pages http://www.angelfire.com/oh/myfamilygenes/
