    2. Hi cousins: Recently I inquired if anyone knew of a Pink Gentry from TN. I have found some information but not much. I know he lived in Copperhill, TN and was married more than once. One of the wives name was Elizabeth. From what I understand they had several children. I don't know all of their names but to start with, my grandfather, his son was Benjamin Franklin Gentry, another son was Louis Gentry, another son was Robert Gentry who was killed in a trucking accident and one of the girls' name was Birdie Lee (spelled ?). Maybe someone out there is related or knows of such people. Any help will be appreciated. I am very new at this. Thanks, Tony Gentry

    3. Just went into Ancestry.com and joined. Thanks Ginny. Now what I found there was info about Joseph Gentry/Mary Gentry in Vol #8, Issue #4 (Oct 1988) Surry Co., Genealogical Assoc. Journal. This is evidently information found in Joseph and Mary GENTRY's bible 1797-1851. Does anyone have that issue and willing to do a lookup for me? Thanks, Sammie Leap

    3. Good Evening from snowy, icy, cold, Ohio! I hope everyone is keeping warm this evening. It's awful here. We are in the midst of an ice storm. The trees and wires and everything is glistening. I hope the power lines hold! I have added a few new items to the Gentry Page. Some Arkansas land grants, a marriage or two from S. Carolina, and Georgia. If anyone has a personal web page with Gentry info on it, I hope you'll let me know so I can link to it. And, feel free to link to the Gentry Page. I am working to get it in shape as fast as I can! Also, if anyone has any records they might like to share, I'd be happy to post those too. 3. Hello-I am new to the list. I am searching for info on my Gentry ancestors. I have gotten as far back as: John S. Gentry b.1800 d.1867 He lived in Spartansburg, SC m.Millie ? Children: William H. Andrew Eliza possibly more. William Hampton is my direct ancestor. He moved to Triune, TN after his father's death, taking Millie with him. I think John could possibly be the son of one of the many Samuels-one died in Spartansburg in 1867-but I have come to a dead end and there are A LOT of Gentrys in the area. Any clues? I am also interested in the life of Wiliiam's son H.H Gentry, my great-grandfather, and according to family lore, a well-known man in Nashville, TN in the early 1900's. Thanks in advance, Jeanne Richardson Baldwin Indianapolis ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com

    2. I found this on another genealogy page. I hope that you enjoy it. DEB HEREDITY: A GENEALOGY POEM BY GRANDPA TUCKER I saw a duck the other day. It had the feet of my Aunt Faye. Then it walked, was heading South. It waddled like my Uncle Ralph. And when it turned, I must propose, Its bill was formed like Aunt Jane's nose. I thought, "Oh, no! It's just my luck, Someday I'll look just like a duck!" I sobbed to Mom about my fears, And she said, "Honey, dry your tears. You look like me, so walk with pride. 1. Rhea/McMinn Co.,TN records
    2. Here's some interesting facts for desc. of Elisha Gentry b. 1746 researchers (long post) In looking for parents of my Allen Gentry Sr. b. 1792 SC who migrated to TN between 1820-1830 and then to MO by 1837, I found the 1830 TN census contained 2 Allen Gentry in McMinn Co - one referred to as Allen Sr and another just Allen Gentry. So while digging further into McMinn/Rhea County records this is what I discovered. It always amazes me the people who were in county records that NEVER appear on the census!! Rhea Co. formed 1819 bordered by McMinn Co, Rhea Co., Bledsoe Co., Hamilton and Indian Lands. First Gentry mentioned in area records was David Gentry who was a bondsman to William Rogers in 1813 in McMinn Co. This David was the wife of Tiana Rogers. They went to Arkansas with the Cherokee early and he d. in AR. Tiana Gentry then m. Samuel Houston. Here also by 1820 is Cain, the son of Elisha Gentry and probably siblings living with him. But who is William? Is his wife Neoma? Who is the Shedrick Gentry? Where did all these Allen's come from? 1820 Rhea Co.,TN - Taxables in Capt. Samuel McDaniel's Co. 3. Hi Cousins, I wasn't going to say anything for a few more days, but seeing there is some interest in it, you can all check out the new GENTRY WEB PAGE. http://members.tripod.com/~nanny_4/genfam.html I've been working on it for a few weeks now and still have a long way to go, but it's started. For now, it will be a collection of public records...marriages, census, etc. It's going to be simple, no bells and whistles, because I simply don't know how to do that stuff! Yet. Maybe later I can dress it up. But, I think you all just want info, and to heck with the fancy stuff. I've saved quite a bit of info over the past year and have started with that. I hope those that sent things to the mail list won't object if I put it on the page. I will give credit for the information to the person that sent it. If anyone should have some census or marriage or death records you'd be willing to share, I'll be glad to post them. If anyone has any ideas, I'm open for suggestions. Take care, and for those of you in our "snow belt", keep warm! 3. I hope that a recipient of all of this Gentry data puts it all together in a Huge file and makes it available to Salt Lake. I have deleted couple of the Digests, and now wish I had saved them all. My last Gentry (Anna m Pleasant Burnett, Edgefield Co., SC) died in 1829, and I had not thought of trying to find them all, but this gives tremendous information. Just wish we had sources. Does anyone else have that the father of Nicholas I of England and Va. is 1 Samuel Gentry b: 1604 -- +Margaret Draper as sent in by Rod Bell. I think this is the first time I have seen this.
