Hi- Just joined the list, hoping to find some information on my one elusive Gentry. She was Elizabeth GENTRY, born July 20, 1787, place and parents unknown. She married Richard McGEE, place unknown, June 19, 1804. She died August 31, 1834, in Giles County, Tennessee. Survived by at least one child, James Gentry McGee. ( The name Gentry became a common first and middle name for male children, down through several generations. It was my father's given name.) Sure would love to get a line on this one! Thanks - Nancy

This not my line, just happened across it and figured it would catch someone's eye. Loved the "J" for Jentry. My name is Kendra Gentry-Gill the following information is all I have concerning my Gentry family. I would be intrested in more if anyone could help. I know I don't have much so anything would help. My Greatgrandfather was William (Willy) Lewis Gentry born 1881 in AL died 1936 in IL. Married Dolly Bingham (sp) b: mid 1880's died mid 1960's in IL, from Tuscolusa AL year unknown. Children: Percy, Tommy, Roy, Pete, John Charles, Tucker, and Delsi. I don't known years of birth but could find out some of them. My Grandfather is Percy he married Alma Mainer (this spelling could have changed during time) and had 6 children. My father Kenneth Gordon, William Lewis, Steven Keith, Doris Lee, Bonnie Rose, and Betty Jane. Betty Jane and Alma passed away in 1997. William and Dolly moved to Il in 1921 from the Blocton--Piper--Hamilton or Colena Al area. Thanks

Gentry married Catherine ? Moses Gentry 1722(?) married Lucy Sims Nicholas II (1697?-1799?) married Mary Brooks Nicholas I (1655?-1710) married Lucy Cornelius I have no dates for John P. Gentry and no last name or dates for Catherine. I have no information on Moses Gentry. None of the lists that I have seen have included Moses. I have no dates for either Mary Brooks or Lucy Cornelius. John P. is the only child I have listed for Moses, but since I read someplace that the Gentrys took the Lord seriously when He said to go forth and multiply, there must be more. I have information on all except those noted above.

There are ref. to where the information came from after each abstract, but I didn't realize at the time that I needed to also copy the page these sources were listed . Justina (Gestin) Hedgepath. He served under Capt. Vardry McBee, Cols. James Cottton, Sevier and Roebuck. After serving 6 mo in 1780, he was disch. after the battle of Kings Mountain.
