I'm trying to locate a marriage record for my great-grandparents but have run into a roadblock. Both were immigrants, although from different countries at different times in the 1880s. As far as I know, both went straight from the port of entry to St. Paul, Minnesota, where they presumably met and married, and lived until their deaths. I don't know the date of their marriage but can make an educated guess, between immigration dates and the birth of their first child. A volunteer searched the index of marriage records in the county that includes St. Paul but couldn't find anything even close to the names I have, so now what? I guess they must have gotten married in a neighboring county, so should I study a map and find volunteers who could do look-ups in all surrounding areas? I don't know what church my relatives attended, although it apparently was Lutheran. That doesn't narrow the field much in a large city. Where should I go from here in tracing the records? Nancy
