Darla: Post what you do know... Do you have a family Bible? Are your parents , grand parents, or aunts or Uncles still alive? If not, where are they buried? Check with the cemetery...there is some information there If there is a mortuary listed, are they still in business? If so, ask for the information from the funeral. Is there a local history society in the area that your family is from? Check with them, they are a great source of information, very helpful, and usually will help for a small donation. ( and I much prefer to give them a donation than to pay a government agency for the information) Does your local public library have a Genealogy or Local history section? They usually archive newspapers and such. They are a terrific source also. I hope that these are helpful hints on how to search for "free" and that they will help you get started.
