I volunteer in my local FHC where we cut out all obituaries, births, marriages, anniversaries, etc. from our local newspaper and paste them in a binder under the different catagories for each year. It really isn't such a big job when it is done weekly. We also take the book and using a word processing or data base program index the names. This book is then sent to the main Family History Center in Salt Lake City where they microfilm it and return the original book to the library. There is no charge for the microfilming. This film is then available to libraries that order the film for temporary or permanent usage. It is a great genealogical tool--no matter where you live.
