I am trying to find out about immigration before about 1810. I know the shipping companies owned the passenger lists and many of them have been destroyed. Did the persons coming off the ships have to make any declarations here or register in any way? Or did they just get off and walk away? Did towns on the coasts require any kind of town registration? I am interested in anything about this; most of the ancestors I have seem to have com prior to 1810 and, of course, I would like to find out wwhere and when they came. Celai
