There's a web site called Family Tree Climbers, which is trying to put up a site containing peoples' information where it can be gotten free. You can submit GEDCOMs, send obituaries from your local paper, etc, and they put it on the site. I think its intention was to avoid the part about having to pay for research that was done, for those who want to donate and share.
