    3. Hi Chris and All Tippers! I use my handy rand-McNally Road Atlas to locate current counties. Be careful, however. There have been many county boundary changes over these last several hundred years. I use the Rand-McNally for current locations but then refer to Thorndale & Dollahide's great book with maps for every Federal census year for every state. It shows both current and "then" county boundaries. It is an invaluable help when researching older records. Save yourself the wasted time and frustration of researching in or writing to the WRONG courthouse. Check the maps. :-) Happy hunting! George G.
