All of us have seen the request about census readings, and other types of queries. So I thought add some info for everyone. You know of course ,that censuses were taken by the gov.every 10 years from1790 to the present;these head counts were called population schedules and that thats why we look for mircofilm but we also can have a bonus for some years in nonpopulation schedules One of these is a mortality schedule, which was taken along side the population schedules in 1850,1860,1870,1880.It is a listing of those people who died in the year preceding the begning of the census taking on1 June of these years that is for instancefrom1June 1849 to June1 1850 In the morality schedule the following info is stated name, age, sex, color, whether married or widowed, place of birth occuption, month of death, cause and even the number of days ill. The 1850 census is particulary intersting in that it is the second timthat anyone other than head of house was identified You can find these in the NA they have succeeded in getting copies of most of them. There are also agriculture, manufacturing also hope these help the newbies alittle. Paula
