Now the practice is generally sold by the family to another doctor. That doesn't necessarily mean that all patients will transfer to the new doctor but frequently they do. I suspect the Doctor's widow or her probate attorney were in contact with another practicing physician in the town and that a similar arrangement occurred in the 1950's. The records would move from the deceased practitioner's office to the new doctor's office.
