    1. IGI vs Ancestral File
    2. There are two ways to submit data to the LDS Family History Center. One is to submit a GEDCOM to Ancestral File which goes just to Ancestral File...where others can access it. While you & I can't purchase it (at least right now) for home use, AF CDRoms can be purchased by libraries as well as the FHC. (Our local library has it.) Anybody can access the data, and some may use it for eventual temple work--or it may have had the temple work done from another source. The other way to send it is to send it specifically for temple work...where it eventually ends up on the IGI. Generally only members send for temple work, it's a different process to prepare a GEDCOM for that, although I've known a couple of folks who haven't been members who insisted that they wanted their people listed on the IGI, whatever the religious significance to those who believed.
